I’d think to keep the music going during a fight, no? I mean unless it’s a pretty serious fight where multiple people are involved… it would keep the crowds attention off them to avoid further disturbance…

Agreed and it could easily turn into THAT kind of fight. You know when you can sense the crowd is on the edge … extreme “happiness” can erupt into heavy fighting. It was in the middle of nowhere and the local youth had a bit of a reputation of having fighting as a major hobby. So stopping the music took away one source of energy feeding the already blazing fire.

I DJ’ed a hip-hop club the weekend after the 90’s LA riots over the Rodney King verdicts. No Public Enemy that night for sure!

(I’m in China) Tonight two drunken people started to argue right in front of me, so i stopped the music to let the rest of the guests enjoy the show and of course to get the attention of the owners

Yeah, happened to me Saturday night… stopped the music for a couple of seconds then played it again and clapped my hands trying to get the attention off them as it was starting to break up.

A guy wouldn’t leave me alone. So, I stopped the music and yelled some obscenities at him. Why I stopped the music? To make it known I was having problems and to gain as many witnesses as possible.

When a fight happens, stop the music, turn off your light show and turn on as many casual lights as possible.
When the thing is over start out with some chill out music not something hard.
