Okay first off i think you need to do some more research. Traktor does not support motorized platters at all so the SCS.1Ds or the V7 will not work with traktor. (they will work as midi but will not recognize the motorized platters)

The NS6 already has a sound card and is a dedicated mixer as well so you will not need to invest in another soundcard.
Motorized platters on midi controllers is imo is a bit ass backwards…if you want the feel of vinyl then get turntables and use a DVS system ie. SSL or Traktor Scratch.

So with that said you have 2 options depending on what you like to spin: Serato (Hiphop/Other styles of music) Traktor (all forms of EDM)

OR just buy a copy of Traktor Pro 2 and get a mapping for the NS6. (free 30 day trial of TP2 on the Native instruments website)
Since you are a beginning DJ i really dont see why you would want motorized platters…99% of EDM DJs use CDJs, Vinyl is mostly reserved for Turntablists now a days.

If you are wanting to expand your playablity I suggest getting some CDJs and hooking them up to your ns6 and learn to spin without a laptop.

The entire SCS system from Stanton is Traktor compatible, so I’m going to need a little convincing otherwise about motorized platters.

    http://www.stantondj.com/pdf/products/controllers/sc-systems-brochure.pdf for reference.

Also, if I went with the V7s, I’d stick with ITCH and that would be that. Moot point as they’re too expensive for my current budget.

My original thought was to get proper TTs and either SLL or Traktor Scratch, but the cost of the SCS.1Ds drove me in the direction I’m in now. I cannot imagine getting a *pair* of TTs or CDJs, new, that I’d be happy with at the $500 price point.

I originally learned on Vinyl, but quickly moved to my NS6. I miss the feel sometimes, but as I said, I’m otherwise satisfied with my NS6. Let’s leave the reasons why I want motorized platters alone, and focus on the technical of what I’m trying to achieve.

Ok, for argument’s sake, let’s say I end up getting the Stantons (and assume the platters work with Traktor) and hook everything up (no soundcard outside of the NS6’s). Does anyone have any experience using the soundcard of the NS6 in Traktor, but using something else for all the deck controls? I guess I could download the demo and try for myself. Looks like I have a weekend project.

Also, I’ve heard that the Traktor mapping for the NS6 isn’t fantastic (if I remember correctly, there are problems with the platters), which was also one of the reasons for Numark making the 4Trak?

I honestly don’t mind buying a soundcard, because then I have the option of leaving the NS6 at home for the casual gigs where I can just mess around with Ableton, and leave it at that.

I am mistaken the stantons do work with Traktor Full Thread can be found here

Regardless what you use you are gonna need a controller to control the mixer section of Traktor.

As well from what i understand to use the platters in traktor you are going to need timecode.

I am thinking about expanding out and getting a V7 or two to go with my NS6.
I’m torn between the motorized feel/scratching of the V7, or getting CDJ-400s for cheaper to have as a backup in the event that the laptop/itch went down.

Having an itch device alongside an itch device really doesn’t help in such a situation. If only the V7 had a usb slot for a stick/external hd =(
