    – Vestax VCI-380
If you want to go Vestax VCI route, you might as well go to the newest model, the VCI-400, as it offers 4 channel solutions

    – DDJ-SR,
Pretty solid, expensive controller, the downside is this thing is bulky, heavy and its pretty big to fit in the dj booth you really have to have an extra extra spaces for it, this would last you long then again you can always wait for the newest series which is the the SZ one,

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the VCI-400. Something that took it off my short list was the fact that it does not have booth output.

Does it handle 4 channels in Serato?

I miss the Denon MC6000 mk2 in your line-up. By far the most compact (19″ form factor), best build (when they say “built like a tank, you can take that literally) and now fully Serato supported.

It ticks all of your boxes I believe. 4-deck Serato control, fully stand-alone (matrix) mixer.

The lay-out has improved a lot since mk1, as has the soundcard (now 24-bit). The jogs, albeit it of the smaller variety (many controllers have this size by the way), are excellent. I just sold my mk1 which I used hard for a few years (since it came out in 2011) and I sold it “as new” because you couldn’t tell it was used. At the Frankfurt Prolight+Sound fair next week I intend to visit the guys at the Denon booth and get me a nice shiny mkII. I had to play a few gigs without it and with another controller and I missed my good ole 6000.

    Greetinx.

p.s. the only thing it doesn’t have (logically, since it would mean an entirely new form factor) is beatpads. But you can always get a seperate box to sit above your controller to take care of that. It does of course have all the hot cue and (auto)loop capabilities you could need plus dedicated filter knobs.

VCI 400 has 2 master outputs… just use one for the booth, most booth monitors have their own volume control anyways…

oh right, the MC6000 has booth out with volume control (of course 🙂 ).

I know there are little boxes that have RCA in/out that have a volume knob

These are great tips – thanks for pointing them out. I wasn’t aware it was two master outputs on the VCI 400, brilliant idea.

I think MC6000 mk2 just looked like a beast and not something that would be portable, but I was wrong. It does tick all the boxes I had on my wish list. I’m glad you pointed it out. I’m even happier I asked the question and got a solid answer before taking the plunge.
