MemberLot of things to do and think off that takes a lot of time that you could save if you bought a used Mac for the same amount of money spent on that PC
Just because Apple hides all what is going on behind the curtain oh-so-well doesn’t mean there’s nothng going on.
Trust me, not everything is as shiny with Apple as they want to make you believe.
(I’m a designer, and my species keeps messing around with the mac/win issues day and night, so I am not saying so without reason.)January 2, 2012 at 2:16 pm #12244mr stifffy

MemberHi,
I recommend the power script which is available and explained on DJTT. This turns off pretty much everything you don’t need or want that would otherwise be running in the background.

Save it on your desktop and run it before you start Traktor.I addition, I recommend you set your power plan to high performance, PLUS change the following in Advanced Power Settings for that plan:
USB Settings > USB Selective Suspend Setting > DISABLEDTHEN
Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Right click each entry in the list: Properties > Power Management and DESELECT the option to allow the computer to turn off the device. The USB setting changes I have described should resolve the single most common cause of latency that I know of.

KeymasterI actually don’t recommend running Power Scripts or anything else unless you have to. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There are, however, simple things you can do that will help things to run more smoothly:

MemberI turn off my virus scanner that’s it…..Obviously It’ll be a clean boot up each time I play
Seriously Traktor isn’t that system intensive… if you’re computer was purchased in the last couple of years all of these ideas seem like massive over reactions, I’ve never had a single issue at any gig (I’m pretty sure I’ve just jinxed myself)

MemberOne more thing. RAM – max it out. My old Dell laptop was able to go from 15ms down to 7ms simply by increasing RAM from 1.5gb to 4gb. A matched pair of SODIMM’s is best. I got 2x 2gb for £30 delivered so very cheap.

KeymasterAgreed re RAM – it’s a easy way to speed things up.
