Is platinum notes worth the purchase? Can’t one just use EQs to level out the sound? Or is it more than that!?

In my honest opinion, Platinum Notes is one of the best pieces of software ever created.
I have read about a few bad experiences with tunes, but these are rare from what I can tell.
I’ve really noticed how much better tunes I have sound and would not go back to using the original unedited versions.

When you think about how much clipping and over compression that the majority of music downloads (also CD’s and even some vinyl) contain its essential.
By rights whether you are listening to a WAV or a 128 kbps MP3 you should not have to listen to over compressed music, it should be the standard.
Its ludicrous to think we have to pay for a piece of software to fix these things ourselves.

If your using AIFF and you output the resulting file as a AIFF, you may lose the tags and cover. But you could also output it as a FLAC file instead.

I don’t bother with warmth settings personally, its not why I use the program for.

Is it really a big issue with the file ending with _pn ? You can rename it if you want afterwards.

I think you may be able to get your money back if you don’t like it, but don’t quote me on that. Best ask Mixed in Key about that.

Its not just about the levels and djing has changed over the last 20-30 years or so. For a start the equipment can do more so all I’m trying to do is save myself some time. Also i have a a lot of old house as well which i have managed to get from various cd’s etc and even though they are a cd they don’t sound as good as they should, so i thought this might help.

All i want to do is level out the volume and improve the quality as best i can without buying some very expensive software and spending months sorting it out, the ears can only pick up so much.

btw Diversebeatz – I have ran a few through PN and it does keep the artwork and any notes i have put on so I’m happy.

Yeah +10 (no typo) for PN.

And it does NOT rename your tracks to _pn. That is one of the finer things about PN, it creates a new track. It will NEVER remove or change your original. This has saved my a** a few time already.

I run my tracks through PN (into MP3 or FLAC), then get all the tags right, then run it through Mixed In Key and I now leave the _pn extension. I used to remove it, but I would never know if I was looking at a “done” track. After all, who is it hurting? You load them in your DJ software and/or iTunes and you never even see the filename anymore.
