Hi Edward, as I said in earlier responses, I know there is a market for everything. And if the XDJ-R1 ticks your boxes, by all means. It’s your money, your workflow and you are the one that has to be happy with your choice. Most of the arguments that are important to you mean nothing to me. But I have worked on just about any piece of gear ever thrown at me in my 37-year “career”. So whatever I find at a gig tomorrow I can use. I still tote around my CD wallet which essentially has a core collection that I feel comfortable with playing. Then a couple of RekordBox and Engine (the latter only because I happen to own Denon gear) prepared USB-sticks which have my entire core collection on them. And finally my MacBook Pro with Mixvibes Cross (and until recently Traktor, but I sold the license now) and my entire core collection on it. So wherever I roll up, I’ll be able to play. After all these years I am no longer nervous about what gear they have (will find out in advance if I can to better prepare my set, but that is it), nor do I feel the need to practice to be able to “face” club gear.

Again, if it makes you feel comfortable and fits your workflow, be happy with the choice you made.

The OP clearly can’t tell us what the motivation/argumentation behind the choice for the R1 is, so he has gotten the responses he has been getting.

Most of it very valid. All we can do is give information and advice based on what we know. The rest is assumption and as long as you state what the assumption was you based your advice on, then that can be helpful too.

Far be it from me, or most other readers I know, to put down the gear anybody uses. There are a few exceptions when it comes to some low-end gear, but that is based on multiple bad experiences with it.

Thanks for your input, keep the passion!
