KeymasterDepends if you want Traktor or Serato…
But I agree this controller looks like a real nice piece of gear.
Until now the only thing I dislike is the usual Pioneer style of not having the layout mirrored…. but I guess this is getting used to only, when I DJed on CDJs it was also not mirrored…. but I have got to like mirrored layouts.I would like to compare if this jogs are as easy when scratching as my Terminal Mix jogs.

ParticipantJust gotten back from BPM, and they had two SX’s on show, I actually prefer the SX to the Numark 4TRAK… Anyhow, I took some pictures see below 🙂

MemberVery nice looking, although the jogs seem to be real fingerprint magnets.

InactiveLooks nice but too big. Me thinks controllers designer should think of getting down the size as:
a) transportation, especially with flights, is an issue
b) booth space, not much available for adding additional controllersFor studio and bedroom use, controller size is not an issue. Novation Twitch is an interesting solution, they ditched the jog wheels and got down the size (using touch strips instead for the job.)

KeymasterThanks for the pictures! Have you tried the jogwheels? Are they as noisy and fluffy as the CDJs or are they any good?

They’re really nice. Nice and smooth -and quiet, not too loose not too tight. I feel they are just right for myself personally. They also have capacitive sensitivity adjustment on the front of the unit
After trying numerous controllers from all the major brands I feel that the DDJ-SX Has the best jogs in the market thus far.
One thing I did notice on this SX is that it lacked the gold plated RCA’s which the 4TRAK and other controllers in this price range have. Which gives me doubt in what the actual audio quality will be like. Have they sacrificed the audio quality for looks? I guess time will tell when it’s released and reviewed.

ParticipantI want this so bad I’ve been using 2 Radius 3000 and a VMS4. I only used the Radius because of Bigger pitchslider and Jogs and I did some size comparison in Photoshop and looks like its just the size I want I will map it to traktor
The size is not really a problem for me as it’s 25% smaller then my current setup. Also I have to carry 2 flightcases for now.October 8, 2012 at 1:24 pm #1013219Claus Hyttel
ParticipantDid they show the new Serato DJ software as well?

No, which is a shame. However I had lunch with two of the Pioneer guy’s and they informed me that what they’ve seen so far of the software is very sleek and clean looking, But they couldn’t exactly elaborate more.
I am extreamly close to pre-ordering one, But I feel best that I should wait until it’s release. It’s either going to be this or the 4Trak.

KeymasterNice thanks for the report. I am really tempted for this thing, as it would mean I could ditch my midi fighter as it has the performance pads I need.
But I do some scratching and think I have to feel the jogs…. the jogs on the Terminal Mix are just awesome and even the CDJ 2k Nexus jogs are horrible in my book.October 9, 2012 at 8:12 am #29563CalVic

Perhaps if you’ve got a DJ store near by maybe pop round and see if they’ve got one you can get your hands on to feel.

KeymasterI will try… but it seems like the cheap controllers are selling like hotcakes and the above 500 bucks controllers are rarely ordered here nowadays sadly…
How is the size compared to the NS6?October 9, 2012 at 12:13 pm #1013267gullum
ParticipantBrian S Redd posted a video on facebook
by the looks of it the pads look more le Maschine size then the F1 size
Compared to the NS6 it’s just a tiny bit bigger but all buttons on the DDJ SX are biggerOctober 9, 2012 at 4:47 pm #1013276Hee Won Jung
ParticipantI already got mine on Pre-Order…Freakin love the look of this thing…and no more having to carry around a midi Fighter…Time to permanently add it to my Studio Setup or sell it…hhhhmmm
