Quite often you find that all the knobs on DJ controllers attach using friction and turn a rotary pot underneath using a little notch cut into a little stick..

This means that you can normally just ease the knobs off the top and replace them with brighter coloured plastic ones. This looks more professional and will last a lot longer than some paint on something you touch all the time..

What method do you suggest for removing them? I don’t want to break them. One of the tips that I did find was to use nail art paint because it resists the body’s natural oils and it comes with a small brush. I don’t really want to buy chroma caps because of the price and I’m fine with the knobs I have. Plus I’d rather DIY it. It makes it more personal. Unless I found a really good deal lol

Yeah, painting plastics, especially where there is likely a lot of wear is not a good plan.

As for nail art paint, how long have you seen the nail art last without chipping on nails?

And with the work, the extra prepping materials (degreasing, often priming) you’ll end up spending more money than you would on a set of chroma caps.

As those come in just about any colors, your selection/unique mix of colors will make this a highly personal option too imho.

Finally, get a small LED spot or floof fixture to attach above you shining down on your controller and the knob colors become less important when it comes to visibility.
