The only time I would play the remix is right after the original as long as you didn’t play the entire original out. I’d say half and half is good, meaning the first half of the original and the second half of the remix. Don’t repeat the same parts (intro, verse, bridge, etc.) of the original with the remix or it will just sound choppy and probably confuse people.

i like mashing different version together. if i played a song early on and someone requests the song again later on in the night, i might consider playing a remix of it

this is what suck about playing top 40 to bone heads that want party rock anthem 19million times a night.. i made myself a rule when i started playin out.. no repeats.. if you missed it the first time owe well (but my wallet is always hungry, feed it and see what happens.. im sucha whore) but remixes are ok as long as they are well off the original track like the example track “kickstarts” the dub step is a million time diff than the original, so i can drop that song twice witout breaking my own rule

This is a weird one, I was thinking about it only the other week.

There have been countless times for me when somebody has requested a track and I have replied “sorry I’ve already played it’ (even sometimes when I haven’t) and the requester has just accepted that. But really, who cares if you have already played it? Particularly in a place with high traffic, like a bar or ‘unconventional’ spot, like clothes shop or convention/car show.

If you sense a perfect time for a track, you know its going to work don’t let the fact that you played it at the beginning of the night, possibly to a different set of people, stop you from throwing on that jam!

as part of a set, you could see the parts of the track as a reoccurring motif, and part of the theme you have created.

    cheers
