Memberas far as the ergo is concerned i have also seen it and used for a couple of minutes in a club. it was hooked to one of the channels of a 850 and the guys was using traktor and the djms effects. the sound quality was above average and enough for club use.i would really recomend it if you have club inspirations..however the best controller in the same price point as the ergo is the terminal mix 2.
better sound and build quality(the best in it’s price point),and the best jogs on the market
both the ergo and the tm2 deserve the extra bucksMay 12, 2013 at 4:57 pm #40262Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantCheck out the Denon MC3000 aswell, I have done all the read ups/reviews and it seems the best for functionality with traktor/vdj for the money. The TM2/4 are built well too and deserve a look as Nick as mentioned, Although I’ve gone for the Denon and when it arrives in the next week or two I will post my thoughts if you want to hear them. (I was choosing from the TM2/4 or the Denon MC3000)

Memberya i was comparing the denon mc3000 at one point, but my first experience with VDJ kind of made me bias towards the pioneer products. Although I wouldn’t mind relearning how to use different software if it claims to be better than the competition…
nothing worse than buying a we-go then thinking, “Damn I should have shelled the extra 200$ for something better.” I will continue shopping I guess… just want something long term than just djing in my bedroom for life.

ParticipantBasically im doing what your doing now, I first and still do have a hercules mp3 e2 which was what I learnt on but then i wanted to upgrade so got a numark n4. Problem with that was it was supported by serato until the summer and really I brought the wrong thing for me. Today I’ve sent the thing off and am getting an mc3000 which was my original choice so my words of advice are be sure of something 1 million percent before you go for it otherwise its not worth the hassle and messing around.
As for software its a personal preference thing, but personally ive played with the big 3 (vdj, serato and traktor) and traktor has wowed me to getting the mc3000 so have a look. But be willing to learn new software as they all have pros and cons but when you get a feel for one you like you will know. My advice is try them all and whatever you like best go for!

Memberyeah I don’t mind learning new software (shit I learn new things everyday in my field of work) so right now it seems that I managed to score a used mc3000 on kijiji. Guy is asking 400$ for it but I’m going to see if he can budge if he doesn’t have the receipt hehe… since no receipt no warranty which scares me a bit…
there was a ddj ergo for like 500 but the guy wouldn’t go under 480 so… i’m still shopping on the used market 😛

ParticipantI would check the thing out before you buy it to make sure its all working. The last thing you want is it too fall apart on you after 2 hours use.. I think the best way in the djing game is to learn everything and best put your work to use on the thing you will get the most out of!

MemberI can score a DJJ ERGO for 420$ on kijiji … comes with box but no receipt so I’m wondering if I have warrenty issues would I have trouble? Or saving $143 off the label price is not worth it? Has ERGOS had troubles breaking down from anyone’s experience?
EDIT: SWEET SCORED a ddj ergo for 350$ BLACK !!!! and he is a club owner too, perhaps i can spin there once I get good enough 😀

ParticipantThe Wego does seem like a bit of a toy in my eyes but it does have some great features. I’m loving my new denon mc3k its traktor and vdj ready and it packs a massive punch at its price point I can honestly recommend it over the wego for features and build quality. Also all this nonsense about the jog wheels is just that they pick up each beat very well so defo check that out.

MemberHi there, I’m hoping to use a WeGo in a club next month, I have some concerns over power and sound quality, is there anything I can do to beef it up? i.e. use a separate external soundcard for example?
September 12, 2013 at 5:14 pm #44083DJ Vintage
ModeratorWhat is this obsession with power? If a unit has RCA out (-10db, 0dB) and you run a good quality RCA cable from controller to housemixer, there should not be a “power” issue. It’s not an amplifier!
You think you can make things louder by “beefing up” your end of the sound chain? Trust me, if you put out more than 0dB, the house sound guy is a) gonna set a limiter on you and b) come back to kill you.
Just about any 16-bit (although 24-bit is preferable) sound card should do really. Apart from the logistics and setting all the routing in your software correct, I do not see what benefit an external sound card would bring. If you think the sound card in a WeGo is not good enough, go find yourself another controller (beg, steal, borrow, rent, buy) that has a better one.
I think trying to improve on a low end product by replacement some of the built-in components by outboard gear is tying the horse BEHIND the cart.

MemberThanks for your reply Chuck,
Yeah my concern was about the soundcard in the WeGo, first time I have used it at a party. I’ve been reading here and there that this unit is more of a ‘toy’ controller (which is why I bought it really) however the space available at this place is tiny and the WeGo would be ideal!
I’m hoping to get access to the room for a sound check ASAP, the guy said all I need is my RCA cable so fingers crossed there are no issues!

Get good cables, otherwise the WeeGo is fine and actually great fun to use.September 14, 2013 at 8:36 am #44160DJ Vintage

Don’t worry about the sound card. Even if it DID sound a bit less than a high end controller/sound card, you’ll run it through a big PA. Fortunately big PA’s don’t magnify the sound difference between low end and high end gear, but rather equalise it some. The opposite of what studio monitors do for example.
Listen to Jedi Knight Terry_42 and get a decent length (minium 6 ft, preferably 9) HIGH QUALITY rca cable. Don’t worry about gold connectors, but get a decent pro-brand (not consumer stuff, regardless of how high end).
A) the sound guy at the gig will appreciate you for bringing a good cable and b) you’ll have the best possible connection to the house system.
Good luck & greetinx,
