Yes it will wear the crowd out.

Honestly when im at a show or club, i HATE mashups. Play originals, and keep mash-ups to a minimum.

Depends on the crowd. Look at the folks who go to see Girl Talk or 2ManyDJs.

Take a chance…see if the crowd goes ballistic or hate your guts. Lord knows more DJs need to take chances nowadays. 🙂

BTW…post it on the mixes section so we can hear it.

Its cool if you want to do the mash up thing (with four songs) as your highlights, it shows your skills and makes the crowd wonders about “cool mash-up !” but doing it for the whole 1 hour ? It will not stands out more as you expected it would since you doing it the whole 1 hour

Thank you for all the replies guys. I’m probably going to play more originals, I’m afraid that I would play a track that everyone loves and then mix it with another song and the crowd goes like “what the hell is he doing ? we were expecting this to be the original”…

My two cents (whether you like it or not hehehehehe) …

If (and it’s a BIG if) a mashup is done really well, it will give the audience a feeling of “hey, I know this music, but somethings is odd … interesting but odd … huh? I thought I was listening to something else … wot?” But it will be one of those far-in-the-back-of-your-head feelings while they are going crazy dancing to a good beat. If you can reach that point, mashup as much as you want, make it a musical journey. Just don’t try to fit 12 tracks in 3 minutes … that might be slightly overdoing it.

    Greetinx.
