Hi, first let me ask you to please post in the appropriate forum. This question has nothing to do with Forum News, FAQ , etc., but is clearly a DJ Gear question.

Vestax is gone, no support, drivers and firmware upgrades hard or impossible to find. Unless you really want to dig and are able to fix stuff yourself, this controller is not recommended anymore.

That leaves you with two different controllers for two different kinds of software. The S4 is only recommended with Traktor, the NV only with Serato (although I hear something about VDJ supporting the NV, not sure if and how well that works though).

And as always, the question of which software is best for you comes first, THEN the question of what hardware to pair it with.

I suggest you read up on some recent posts on the topic of selecting DJ software and the process of picking hardware to get a clearer picture of the homework you can do to end up with the best possible solution for YOU. You are the only one that can make that decision, nobody else can make it for you.

I hate to say this as I loved my VCI-400, and so far it continues to work perfectly, but Vintage is right. With the demise of Vestax sooner or later something is going to happen that bricks all their controllers and there will be no resources to help. So regardless of what deals you can find, don’t go the Vestax route.

While I’ve never played around extensively with Traktor, I’ve read many times that it works best with straight up 4/4 edm type beats, so for the music you’re talking about you may want to consider other software options. That leaves the NV from your list as it is designed for Serato, and yes, fully compatible with Virtual as well (screens and all).

Worth adding here though, if you mean 1000 USD you’ve got a lot of options to be looking at on top of what you’ve listed. Pretty much all but the absolute top-of-the-line flagship controllers can be had for under a thousand, including the ever popular Pioneer SX2.

I agree with the above also. I too have a VCI 400 and think its a fantastic controller but I’m aware at some stage something will happen where it won’t be of use anymore due to software changes etc. So in terms of that I’m saving up for a DDJ SX 2 and as your budget is $1000 I’d recommend go for that as I’m sure if you shop around you will get it for just under that.

Yeah, I know that with 1000 USD I can buy a new ddjsx2, but the problem is that I won’t have money to nay kind of case or something to care it. I’m now in USA and coming back to Brazil at the end of september. I was looking a smaller controller thanthe DDJ SX2 because of that. What other options do you guys think I have?

One more thing: the S4 there’s more input options than NV, and that keeps me a little bit worried.

I would not worry about those, the NV has all you need. I would maybe also consider the Terminal Mix 8
