Numark NV: Useless screens in an otherwise good controller, but with some browsing drawbacks due to said screens

Numark NS7 II: Awesome controller with moving platters. Buy only if you want HEAVY and are sold on moving platters. If you never DJed with something moving, then prolly jogwheels will be better for you, if you come from vinyl then this is the holy grail right here.

Numark NS7 III: Basically an NS7 II with 3 screens that are way more useful than the NV screens. But still a nice to have and nothing groundbreaking.

DDJ-SX2: Full featured controller with OK jogwheels in CDJ style. Still heavy but much lighter than the NS7s.

I currently own a Numark NV. I love it, it’s lightweight surprisingly thin & comes packed with MOST of the features that the NS7 II and NS7 III have. Some of the features it doesn’t have are the moving platters, touch strip search, & it lacks turntable ground connections as well as additional deck connections. If your looking for an all round all-in-one controller that is very up-to-date & extremely portable. Get the NV. Price: $799.99

If you have the cash to drop on the NS7 III definitely go for that when it comes out sometime this summer. It has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. But you will take a hit in ease of portability. Price: $1,499.99 USD

The NS7 II is also a great controller that I used to own. It has everything the NS7 III & NV has (minus the screens, though they will be sold separately as an add-on for the NS7 II sometime after the NS7 III is out). So if your looking for something that has a few more luxuries than the NV (again same as the NS7 III’s luxuries) with the option to purchase the screens at a later date (may run around $250.00 USD – $350.00 USD) & once again, lugging a heavy beast of a machine around isn’t an issue then go with the NS7 II. Price: $1,299.99 USD

I owned the original Pioneer DDJ-SX (Not the SX2 so it’s missing a few features). It was a solid controller. Almost CDJ style platters and the familiar CDJ layout makes this attractive to DJ’s wanting to feel more at home when moving from CDJ to controller. From what I see of the SX2 it seems like a great controller with that “Pioneer quality” that has gotten the brand famous. If screens aren’t a necessity, would prefer platters with feed-back instead of moving vinyl platters, would like the option to connect additional decks to your controller, enjoy the pioneer layout, and don’t mind paying about $200 more dollars than the NV, then the SX2 is the one for you. Price: $999.99 USD

Yeah I own the NS7:2 and strongly recommend it. You don’t need to go for this controller if you are used to turntables. This is as hi tec as anything out there, as for it being heavy I like that, its a sign of quality. Remember techniques they are heavy. I tried couple out since owning the Numark and it’s my favourite. If you go for the NS7″2 you can get screens for it which is the only real difference between them (NS7:3.

Thanks for the responses…I had played around with the NV for several weeks and liked it then loved it when I saw a DJ put it to use. I then started to inquire about the NS7ii and started to like it as well, saw it in action and put it to use for a couple of hours and liked the potential of it all but I really loved the screens on the NV. So I looked around and saw that the NS7III would be here pretty soon and thought to wait for that. If v2 is loads cheaper with the screens then I will go that route but if not I might as well purchase the newer product. I wont be moving the controller around for a bit so portability is of no real concern yet but being that I’d be doing just wedding DJ’ing when I get into it I don’t think that is such a big thing but if it does become an issue I think the NV will be a good back up controller.

I don’t know if I mentioned this before but I am totally new to controllers in general so not used to anything really. My last use of a TT was back in 1998 or so.
