We’ve just received a 4Set for review, but it will be a few weeks before we’re able to carry it as there’s a big queue of gear waiting here to be featured on the blog!

It is smaller than the Mixtrack, and like the Mixtrack it is “made to a budget”, meaning lots of plastic and basic controls. However, the jogwheels are similar to those on the more expensive 4Mx, which are very good. (But having said that, the Mixtrack’s jogwheels are very good too).

The big difference is that the 4Set can control 4 decks by switching each channel between decks A&C or decks B&D. The Mixtrack Pro is a two-deck controller.

So – size, number of decks, and the fact that the Mixtrack Pro is tried and tested but the 4Set is still relatively unproven. that, and price, should help you to decide.

Okay thanks for the information both of you 🙂

On a Dutch website (something like Ebay), i’ve seen a advertisement:

    http://muziek.marktplaats.nl/dj-sets/461907678-aangeboden-numark-dj-set-met-extra-s.html

Its in Dutch, so you guys can’t read it. But it contains:

    • – 2x Numark NDX 200’s (CD players)
    • – Numark M-1 mixer
    • – Hercules DJ Console (Usb)
    • – Headset
    • – Microphone
    • – All concluded kabels.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? He is asking €120 for the complete package.
I hope you guys can reply quikly, because I think there are also others who want to buy this set.
(Again, sorry for the bad English).

I would actually go for the Hercules because of its 4-deck functions, which allows for future creativity but you should wait a little more for some reviews before buying it. Research around a little as well.

That is actually a pretty decent deal. However, the NDX 200s are a little too basic. The whole setup is too basic actually. I’d rather go with NDX400s, the price difference is actually worth it. You can play from a pen drive which makes life a little easier. It also has some extra functions, which I forgot. If you’re going with the deal, make sure you are able to test it. It’s always good practice to test gear you get online from a cheap deal. make sure the crossfader is working, the players are playing properly and the EQs are doing their job.

It depends if you want to go controller or analogue. If you go controller, you would still need a laptop to mess around with, or at least a home computer. If you go analogue, all you need are CDs. Or, in the case of the NDX 400s, pen drives. I would go for analogue if I were you. Learning curve is a lot steeper but it’s actually good to learn all of it. It takes more determination if you go analogue and it takes more patience because of the learning curve.

Of course, you can learn the same things with controllers and the learning curve is less steep. You also have more functions to mess around with, you can download more effects for your softwares, you have hot cues, you can watch waveforms, beatmatching is a lot easier.

But I guess I would argue that it takes a little of the fun off DJing. I’m actually thinking of buying an analogue set myself when I have the cash but as of now, I’m really contempt with what I have.

Its my first DJ set, so I think I’m okay with ‘basic’.
And for the price of €120,- and for what I get (also a digital controller, a mic and a headset) I think its pretty nice.

Do you guys think I should go for the Mixtrack Pro or the

    Hi Halle
Just looked at the Hercules dj 4 set,
it doesn’t mention anything about a sound card,
Where as the mixtrack pro has a sound card.
To buy a numark sound card will set you back £64.

The mixtrack pro comes with tracktor le. (Europe)
Hope this helps you to decide.

The 4set does have a built in soundcard.

What brand is the DJ controller? This is a crazy good deal. Just make sure you’re able to test the gears and make sure you don’t get conned.

Uh well, the Numark Mixtrack Pro may be used to control four decks. This can be done via Skins and/or mappings esp on Virtual DJ. I have actually tried it myself though I’m still not very comfy controlling four decks as I’ve just started learning DJing a few months back.

As with any other DJ software, I am not so sure, but I think it’s just with how you map your controller

The only thing I know is that the controller is from Hercules.

Definitely good deal. Go ahead and test the gear. If everything functions, buy it.

Dude, that is an incredible deal. Say YES and make sure you test everything really well and if he is shipping it, make sure he has a return policy and ask for a email detailing his return policy so that it is almost impossible you get scammed.
