ParticipantI have the MixTrack Pro, and i love the thing, but it all depends on what you want to do with it, i usually just mix tracks together and throw some gater and filter ontop of it, but that might not be what you want from a controller.
What do you need your controller to do?

MemberIm a begginer DJ, and this is going to be my first controller, so i want to be able to take my djing skills from an beginner level to an intermediate level. I want it to loop, incorporate FX, scratch etc

ParticipantWell, looks to me as the DDJ-WeGO has more features, although a little more expensive, but i think the WeGo is going to last you longer…
But ultimatly you should do some research and compare the two for yourself.October 18, 2012 at 6:15 pm #1013944Arj
MemberI have done quite a bit of research and understand the full capabilities of the Mixtrack Pro. However there isnt much in terms of reviews on the WeGo, so i was hoping someone with this product could help me out. But thankyou for your input mate

ParticipantArj, i was in your shoes not too long ago. Here’s my (very serious) 2 cents. The Mixtrack Pro is the Titan of the beginner price point for a reason – it has a ton of good features for a good price. the MTP may be plastic, but it is BIG for this price point, and looks as ‘professional’ as you’re going to get for $220. i.e. – its not a toy.
From what I know about the We Go (i did a lot of prelim research when it first came out not too long ago) is everyone seems to be in consensus that it is overpriced (no surprise there, coming from Pioneer). Also, the overtone from the many reviews ive looked at is this piece of kit seems to definately be more of a toy. Yea, its got pretty flashy lights on the jogs and it lights up and is shiny, but if you want to get serious, many DJ’s you interact with will deem it tacky. When i watched reviews, it reminded me of those Sketchers you had as a kid that lit up when you walked. Also, the look and layout is a bit wierd. While the MTP is a big rectange with little frills, the WEGO has a wierd shape (i think its tilted?) and is rounded at the corners and just looks…different – (not saying this is bad). ALSO a big thing i want to mention is the Cue button placement of both—
While yes it may be wierd that the MTP has it’s cues at the top of the controller (i use an MTP and dont mind), they’re all right there and you can use them easily./
The Cue buttons for the WEGO are just downright wierd. theyre rounded around the jogs if i remember correctly, so theyre not all there for you to hit with one hand if you want.
^ What you’ll discover as a beginner DJ and if you ask any DJ out there, is the massive importance of Cue points. that being said, the access to the buttons on the WEGO would just be a little too out there to use effectivelySo IN MY OPINION:
MTP – realistic – MASSIVELY popular – good price – does not look like a toy
WEGO – a bit flashy (some would call tacky) – overpriced for this price point – lacks some funtionality for the sake of fashion – looks a bit like a toy, less like a legitimate piece of kit.Just my 2 🙂

Memberthats help make my decision a lot more easier, thanks a lot man. I see (from your picture) that you have the MTP, and i was just wondering what level of Djing your at (beginner/intermediate/pro) and i was wondering the MTP fullfills all your needs?

ParticipantI’m at the intermediate level. I’ve been playing gigs out now for a year. You do get a bit of an inferior feel when you show up at a party to replace a DJ going to town on his NS7 when you whip out your MTP, but you’ll get that either way, at least the MTP doesnt look likea toy.
MTP is great, i just want to get creative and will be buying a Novation Twitch very soon.
But I’ll never sell my MTPOctober 18, 2012 at 7:56 pm #1013955Arj
MemberWell thats where im trying to go, i want this controller to help me build my skills from beginner to intermediate then i may move on to a slightly more expensive controller. Thanks for your input, been a massive help

MemberHi Arj,
If I were you I I’d give the We-go a wide berth. I’ve tried an Ergo and it’s a cheaply made, badly laid out controller. Many people like the Mixtrack Pro, but Reloop make good quality products. I’ve had a Digital Jockey IE 2 for a while, it’s well built and reliable. Hope that helps.

ParticipantSeems like you are me a year ago Arj,. The MTP built my skills to a level that i can move up from 🙂

Memberhaha, just shows everyone starts at the same place, but if you have worked your way up in a year with the MTP, it shows its reliable, and well layed out so thats its not a massive transition when moving onto more complex equipment

InactiveS2 is a good compromise.
