It’s too easy when you can just spin the jog wheel back…gather yourself and try again. Instead of dropping the song in at the wrong time and having to nudge it back/forward.

Also, I haven’t touched my PS3 in the last 6 months since I started DJing. I’m contemplating selling it.

I would say thats about the right thing to do there VB. do what you can to knock the tune off track and then nudge it back into place. AVOID THE SYNC BUTTON AT ALL COSTS! im learning to break that habbit as well.

Thanks for the input guys 🙂 I’ll definitely try playing for some friends. Just to clarify vinny, are you saying to start over from the beginning when I mess up, instead of just trying to nudge it back into place? A follow up question, how do you guys practice?

Learn to eventually beat match using only the pitch faders. It really helps when u need to do small corrections when you are in the mix

I disagree with this statement when using cdj’s, a controller, it’s okay when using direct drive turntables and essential when using belt drive turntables, but IMO you have much more control using both hands and learning to use them together to beatmatch

Keeping one hand on the pitch fader frees up the other one to do effects or EQ.

not sure I am capable of finely adjusting the pitch fader and doing anything else on turn tables, no problem adjusting the platter though… but whatever works for you

Its easier on the CDJs or controller. Cos you can see the % changed

Exactly the opposite. If you make a mistake try an correct it in real time and just go with it.

Biggest thing about practicing (no matter what you do) RECORD IT and listen back to it later.

Keep your finger on the pitch faders. I dont use controllers or CDJs but on turntables, I keep one hand on the pitch fader and the other hand using the dots to slow it down, fingers or spindle to speed it up slightly while using the pitch control at the same time.

To get better you need to train your ears if that makes any sense at all. haha
