What I have done is created a different user for my DJ iTunes and Virtual DJ.. Allows me to log in with a different apple ID for my DJ stuff (essentially one which I use just to keep iTunes happy.. I buy everything using my normal one on my normal user) and have a separate DJ library more easily than using the option key all the time..

The additional advantage of this is it sets up storing the tracks in a different place for you automatically.. And you can transfer playlists from one library to the other once you have imported all the tracks in those playlists into both libraries..

Note – your DJ software will look at whichever library you opened the most recently when you browse the iTunes library through your DJ software.. So don’t launch your DJ software when you have been using your other library!

    thanks bob

set up a new user – done
Set up a new apple ID – done
Then buy the tracks on the main user – this will then put a file on the computer – stick it in a playlist and the import the playlist – simple as that?

Or do i need to import the file as well as the playlist!?

    Thanks again

    Almost..

iTunes will store the music files in (unless you have changed it manually):

    C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes Media\Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Track>

(Replacing anything with “< >” with the appropriate values..)

What you need to do is add the new tracks from the “Normal” library to the “DJ” library..

Do this by going File -> Add file to library and then navigating to the new tracks.

**If you can’t see “File”/”Edit” etc, click on the little box icon far top left and select “Show Menu Bar”**

You don’t need to use playlists to transfer them, but you can transfer playlists if you want to as a separate function entirely.
What is important is adding the tracks in those playlists before you transfer them as any tracks iTunes doesn’t have in it’s library when you transfer the playlist it will just ignore and your playlists won’t transfer properly.

    Hope that makes sense..
