Get 10 friends together, stick a mic in a reasonably sounding room. Put up a clock. Let them count back from 10 (louder with every count) and then shout “Happy New Year Everybody!”
Take a nice kickdrum beat (really fat works best) and set it to 60 bpm. Record 10 beats of that.
Then cue them both up. Hit play on both and record the result, play with volume settings and timing (kick after or before voice for example). You could even use 4 decks and double the voices (use slightly differing short delay/reverb settings and it will sound twice as big).
Now you have a nice countdown. Cue it up on NYE. Wait til 11:59:50 and hit play. People WILL start counting with you. I’d be more worried about what my first track would be after the countdown.
Any suggestions on that anyone?
Greetinx and enjoy playing NYE (I am blissfully free that night, but have played many, many NYEs, including THE year 2000 NYE).
