    Hey and welcome!

The Mixtrack Pro 3 is an excellent beginner choice, no need to go Pioneer. The Mixtrack Pro Series already has a soundcard build in, so you can connect the controller to the house mixer.

The Pio DDJ-SB is actually cheaper than the MixTrack I believe. Having had both Pio and Numark in the past, I personally trust Pioneer more. Depending on how portable you want your set up to be the DDJ-WEGO2 is another alternative that’s right in your price range and even comes bundled with VDJ. The soundcard is included in an all-in-one, so all you need are the right cables/adapters to plug into a channel into the mixer.

As this point, become familiar with your workflow and what software you need to achieve that because while a lot of controllers are MIDI-mappable, you’ll be selecting your hardware based off what software can be tied to it. As you progress, you may find your workflow changes, but only then will you want to change or upgrade. You don’t want to buy a kit and expect to grow into it. You’re doing the right thing starting off with a small, controller to start off. As your abilities and skills grow, you’ll add to or change your kit accordingly.

    Hi Chaps,
Many thanks for your comments and warm welcome.

    I’ve a heck of a lot to learn !

Luckily I’ve been playing around with VDJ for a little while so I have the basics, trust me I’ve spent a few hours on it recently trying to improve.

    Hello all on this forum
    First I will introduce myself
My name is Nathan and I am not a newbie DJ but I am new to the controller World.
I am 37 and been djing with vinyl and cdjs since 1998.I started out playing hard trance and hardcore Techno but now play mainly Techno and good electronica and house. I have a massive mp3 collection of all genres but still am a Techno purist.

I have I’d say novice level of knowledge of DJ software and have been using traktor on & off for about a year. I can clearly see the huge potential of traktor with its remix decks , stems and possible machine integration.

I have a new family addition coming in December so I have sold all of my DJ gear and vinyl ( collecting dust sadly)
    What I sold
    Pioneer djm 850k. Technics 1210 mk3d x2 denon sc2900s x2. 7000+vinyls
Very sad I know but new baby coming and we need the space and the extra cash .

I have kept my traktor kontrol f1 and this is why I have come here for help.

The controller World is a minefield to me and I don’t know where to start. .

    I am looking at
    Denon mc6000mk2.
Reasons for . Build quality. 4 channel stand alone mixer. Decent looking jog wheels and it looks layer out very well.

How well does it map to traktor?

I don’t need loads of beat and sample pads just a decent unit with 4 channel that can plug anything into
Also I want to add another f1 or maybe a traktor d2

I want to rebuild my DJ set up over time so a great start out controller is a must.

    Also looking at s4 mk2
Read lots of issues with freezing and only has 2 inputs and not as good build quality

Have in mind the s5 & s8 but no jog wheels is putting me off a little

High build quality is a must fur me too.

My budget is up to £450 . £500 at a push.

I want to stick with traktor 2.9 as I want to make the most out of remix decks and stems and really am going to add another f1 or a d2 and in the future 2 small format cdjs (pio 350/400)

Once i am back up and running and settled in with my new setup and learnt stems and remix decks and traktor I want to add in maschine to add some more live aspect to my mixes.

How easily can maschine be added into traktor. ?

Many kind regards and many thanks

Any help will go a long way
And if I am missing something like a controller that you would highly recommend then I would love to hear about it

    Hi,

I’m JPQuest (moniker came working with my DJ friends/rave scene) & just getting into making my own music. Big fan of GirlTalk and want to make my own mash-ups for fun & learn about creating music from the bottom-up. Any advice or heads-up for where you go for helpful material would be appreciated.

Of course I’ll be giving back info/tips I come across & learn on my own to the community as I become more experienced/educated. Thanks!
