Generally speaking you can have different audio programs on the same machine, just don’t try and use them at the same time or you risk crashes due to device conflicts.

I am sorry to say you have violated our posting rules.
    See the rules here:

    THIS IS YOUR FIRST WARNING
    Thanks for your understanding.

    /mod mode OFF

Indeed what Oddity said. As long as you make sure all Sam and WinAmp processes are exited, Serato will work fine.

Terry – Might help when you do this to state the specific rule violated, as it can be hard sometimes to suss which rule was violated (was it an all caps topic?). I’ve seen several users scratching their head, reading the list, trying to figure out which rule they violated.

thank you deathy, yeah Terry I have no clue what you’re talking about. I came HERE for help because I couldn’t e-mail serato from there website..which is were I went FIRST. I don’t post on here enough to read all your “rules” sorry if I somehow offended you. I needed help thought I could come here, If I was wrong that’s cool.

Thank you Todd and Deathy for your input it helped greatly, just freaked out because I don’t have a large computer like some of the Apple computers etc…

Getting help is not the issue, Jonathan. Everyone and pretty much any question is welcome here. We do run a tight ship, part of the reason we can be the friendly, non-hating, relaxed place we are I think.

However, my advice in general to people starting to post on new forums, is to look up the posting guidelines. They are usually not all that long and pretty concise. It prevents you from making posting mistakes that invoke the “wrath” of the mods.

I’ll second Deathy’s suggestion to add which of the rules was broken by the OP. I like to think I usually do this when I throw the book at it, but will make a point to be 100% sure I do in the future.

Chuck – Yeah, you do a good job in the edit reasons, though it might be worth stating it in the actual post as well, since most people have what in tech circles my friends and I call “UI blindness,” where they don’t see everything that’s presented to them due to information overload… they’re so focused on the (generally gentle for a forum, IMO) chewing out that they don’t spot the reason in the little gray box under their post.

Plus, I think Terry forgot to put something meaningful in there.

yeah DJ Vintage, it IS about getting help, I STILL don’t know what the heck it was that I suppose to have done…..I went back and looked at the rules…must be blind because I don’t see ANYTHING that I did wrong. You may have to break it down for me…I don’t know…however, I WAS only looking for help as of NOW I don’t know that I can get it here. Not trying to make anyone mad…but I’m a little frustrated because it’s only the second post I’ve ever made on this website and I feel like I just got punched.

so, explain it to me please, why a “member” would be treated that way.

    Jonathan –

I think you are being a lot more confrontational than is necessary.

You’re not being mistreated. Your behavior, though, is not defensible. You broke a rule.

You don’t know what rule that is, and unfortunately, Terry (as the moderator who moderated you) is a working DJ who tours a >LOT,< so he doesn’t check the forum every day so he can fill you in on what you did wrong. However, at this point, I think you are most definitely breaking more of the rules now, especially rule #1 and rule #2.

This is not a paid support service, this is a bunch of DJs helping each other out. Nobody owes anyone anything. I’m a member too, so is Terry, so is Chuck… they aren’t paid either, by the way – they’re just long time members of the community who spend their time FOR FREE trying to help out.

So, why are you treating other members in a way that you yourself would be offended by?

    Thank you deathy, yes indeed.
Yes the first post did violate the NO CAPS in titles rule. I thought it was obvious, as when I post the link to the guidelines I tend to think people will at least then read them and by reading them know what they did wrong 🙂 Also I think it was obvious I changed the topic title in my edit…

And you are also spot on. We are not paid, we do not get anything for helping people here. I think people are profiting a lot from us, as the mods (Vintage and I) have a lot of DJing knowledge, since we do this job for ages (I think combined we have more than 50 years experience) and members like deathy, Rizki and many others who also have a lot of experience.

So yes, we are quite strict on our forum rules. This means not we are mistreating anyone, but we will enforce this rules no matter what. As the goal is to keep this the best DJ forum on the internet, where respect and same treatment for everyone is the main focus.
I stress the word respect, as I consider it also a showing of respect (maybe I am to old, but back in the day this used to be it) when you first read 10 lines of posting guidelines before you post something.

I also do not consider my first post disrespectful, I begin the post with “I am sorry…” and I end with “…Thanks for your understanding.”. I consider this a polite thing. If the sentence “this is your first warning” offends you, I am sorry, but I have to tell you somehow that I am watching people who break the rules.

That being said, I think I was also helpful since I posted you will be OK when using this software, I even tested it on my laptop with SAM, since I used that software too, so my answer was validated.

So please I would ask now to also stay on spot with rules 1 and 2.

Thanks for your understanding and sorry for any inconvenience.
