    Hi Darrell,

Nice choice of controller, jumping right into the pro side of things.

We all would like to use a MAC laptop, even the people who don’t really want a Mac, if they could buy one for a few hundred dollars.

What I mean to say is that Mac laptops keep their value a lot more than PC laptops. So buying a decent quality, decent specs one for a few hundred dollars is not gonna happen.

I bought a 15″, non-retina, i5 MacBook Pro with 4GB of memory, which at the time was 3 years old, and had a dent in it. I paid almost 800 euro (approx. 1.000 bucks) for it. And I had to scramble because others had lined up behind me to buy it if I didn’t.

I am currently in the process of looking at another MacBook. I expect mine will still fetch at least 400-500 euro (500-650 bucks) and I expect to pay at least 1000 euro (1300 bucks) for a used one. Just to give you an idea of the numbers involved.

I think you’ll either have to expand your budget or settle for a (used) PC laptop.

All my two cents worth of course.

    Rule of thumb:

MacBook Pro should be 2011 or newer.
MacBook Air should be 2013 or newer.
Try to get 8 GB RAM.
    Try to get an SSD.

If you do go the PC route, go with Intel vs AMD processors. Serato doesn’t guarantee performance on AMD processors and they do not officially support it.
