Update: A guy I used to work with now bartends at a place and wants to get into the game too. I brought my gear down to his bar and was showing him the little I know about beat matching and cue points and getting him hooked too. Nevertheless the DJ the had booked for the night ran into some car trouble so they asked me to keep playing. Basically did an opening set as the place filled up relying solely on beatmatching – trying to build up energy for when the dude showed up. The guy showed up and the manager thanked me for filling in, and offered to book me a month from now! Sometimes it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right the!
