Hi and welcome to the forums.
Good story, sorry to hear about your troubles though.
Word of advice, with 125GB of digital music amassed (all legally acquired, right? – we don’t condone/appreciate illegal music collection around here) you seem to have fallen for one of the main pitfalls of digital DJ-ing, hoarding tracks!
Plenty of tips here at the site and forum and in the courses, that you’ll soon find out that we are strong advocates of having a limited core collection (Phil Morse is at 600 tracks or so, I’d say somewhere between 500-1500 tracks should be more than enough) and keeping it limited (i.e. track in track out once you have reached your preferred size).
It’s the only way you will get to know your collection intimately and it also forces you to be very picky about the songs you’ll add to your collection and spend your well earned money on. And knowing your collection intimately and having it well prepped is key to playing great gigs.
Unless you play as a wedding/mobile DJ in which case it helps to have a big requests collection, again legally acquired. Even in that case it’s good practice to split your tracks into core collection and request collection so the latter doesn’t clutter the former.
Lots of luck and grats on the journey!
