ParticipantHey, for starters, I just googled what the Akiyama Sirion SC was and I would stay away from that.
-It’s not a well known brand which is sketchy in itself
-I have like an american version of that controller under a different branding (pyle pro) they call it Pyle Pro Pmidi-100 and I wouldn’t recommend it.Out of those options I would probably go with the mk4 but also look into the Numark Mixtrack Pro. That’s widely considered the best entry controller, wish I would’ve gotten that to start years ago.

Agreed. I got a lot out of the Mixtrack Pro for a good 2 years and its still going strong. IMO if you want to buy any of these controllers go for the mk4 just because you know more about it. but if you’re also open to something else, look into the Mixtrack pro as well

KeymasterYes get a mixtrack pro. Anything else would not be much of an upgrade to your current controller.

MemberThanks for the help guys…
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go to the mixtrack pro as it is wayyyy out of my price range (sad panda face)
But, if you think the difference between the Instinct and MK4 is not that noticeable, then best to stay with the Instinct.
It might be a pile of plastic but I do have to admit I have gotten used to it XD

ParticipantDude, A mixtrack pro is 200$… Save up for that. I have seen some pretty great mixes done with it…. Look at X-Fadas on youtube.

ParticipantOK so I’m in the same boat with maybe a few more $s. The Mixtrack Pro gets the good wrap but I’m wondering if the Traktor I mentioned in my ‘Hello’ post is worth the extra $100 or so. ( from the same online store here in Aust, by the time I have upgraded the software.)
I’m guessing the software is a very big part of the choice of controllers, though I may be way off the track.
I have my first DJ gig lined up already, at the local boat club of which I am a member, at Easter, so it would be good to make some choices and get into practicing, learning the ropes and putting a set together. I mentioned controllerism, Live9 and push in my post, but concider DJing and controllerism to be way seperate things atm. Though I may try to mix them at appropriate venues, down the track.
The main feature I would be looking for in a controller is a built in sound card with the ability to preview and cue tracks on headphones without interupting the signal to the PA.
I gues the crux of my question is primarilly Tracktor Pro 2.5 or Serato DJ.
OK so I just did the obvious and googled that question. (God I love the internet)
Stable and easy to learn gets my vote. Should blend in well with live9 and Push too. Maybe Serato on my old PC laptop and Live on a new Macbook pro, both through a small mixer into PA.
Would love some feedback on my choices though and depending on that, I’ll put an order in a a few days.
Cheers Steve.
PS I think I may be radically different and DJ under my real name.January 5, 2013 at 12:09 pm #34504jbhski10@gmail.com

KeymasterA Macbook Pro can easily handle Live and Serato DJ at once.

MemberHey guys,
The Mixtrax pro is almost 90€ over what I can actually spend, so for the moment, i won’t be able to get it.
So, I’m still stuck between the DJ Control Instinct and the DJ CONSOLE MK4
The only problem I have with the Instinct is, when I use VDJ Pro 7.0.5, is the audio cue (listenting to the track your going to mix in). I have no idea why, everything else is mapped to perfect, except that (can you even map that, btw?) but it doesn’t work so I have to use the Djuiced version that came with the Instinct.
I am very used to VDJ Pro and Djuiced, well, without having auto gain, makes the few mixes I’ve tried pretty unbalanced volume wise.
Since I did read that the MK4 is ready for VDJ Pro, I thought it might be better to have (and only 10€ more than what I paid for the Instinct (it is on sale 😀 )
So other than that small inconvenience, was wonder if it is worth exchanging the Instinct for the MK4.
Good thing is that I have until Thursday to decide (it is when the return policy ends for the Instinct) so any help, insight, etc, will be greatly appreciated.
