MemberHello Mike 🙂
From this Review it looks like a Great Speaker for your Price Range; I Trust this Store:

But; it is only One Speaker;July 16, 2011 at 9:08 pm #3935Michael Fuchs
MemberOh thanks for the quick reply Emma. That’s great to hear. I am disappointed though because it always came up under my search terms on amazon for specifically “pairs” of speakers. I’ll have to keep looking because that is out of my budget. Thanks though!!
ps: i was wondering how they could be so cheap!!July 16, 2011 at 9:30 pm #3938Emma Partnow

Do you know what ‘Wattage’ you Need; or any other Details I can search out for you 🙂July 16, 2011 at 10:09 pm #3940Michael Fuchs
MemberSo I’ve decided I’m going with passive speakers. I’m looking at smaller models from 10-12 inch, so do you think that a PA speaker with a 10″ sub would output enough volume at 150 watts? I don’t know a whole lot about sound and I know that the more accurate way to measure is by db and something else, but its confusing for me. I just don’t want them to be too weak. thanks.

MemberOh just saw your post, thanks Emma! Well I have no specifics in mind other than portability (I’m not very strong) and price. So I have decided on going with passive speakers for the sake of price and since I will be able to use the amp in the future for other purposes. I know I am a complete amateur here and some of you are probably dying looking at this link, but this is what my bassline is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007LCKPU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER . I know that they are very cheap and not the greatest or even very good at all, but I only need something to do the job for a year or two.

MemberHello Mike 🙂
The Review below sounds Pretty Good considering he Explains about the Strengths and Weaknesses of this Product;
You Probably read this on Amazon :);
But as you say; you have to look at your Pricing Structure; what you need them for; and the fact that they will only be ‘Filling A Gap’ for a period of time;
Until somebody else Helps you in this Thread (and myself having Searched the Internet for Reviews); I can only Suggest reading this Review; and then ‘Sleeping On It’; which is Always Good before we Make A Purchase 🙂July 17, 2011 at 2:10 am #3946Michael Fuchs
MemberThanks so much Emma, I really appreciate the help! I will definitely be sleeping on this one (for at least 2 or 3 weeks) so I will have plenty of time to think about it. And yes, they will only be my primary speakers for 6-18 months or so, so I am not too worried about them, and worst case scenario, I end up with an extra pair of speakers that didn’t cost me much. It’s not like I’m spending thousands. So again, thanks, and I’ll give you an update on any changes. 🙂

MemberJust letting you know, with a budget of $300-400 you will get speakers that will break at some point. Be preapared for that, and try not to be too disapointed when that day comes. Just use the time till then to try and earn some money to pay for the next (quality) pair.
Also make sure they’re active speakers (amps built in) otherwise you’ll need an external amp as well.

KeymasterTry secondhand rather than new – as long as they’re in good condition, you mag get ‘brand’ speakers for the same price. Think about positioning too – speaker stands are important. Try and spend more if you can as ideally two mid/top cabinets and a bass cabinet would be best.

MemberThanks jezalenko, I have sknowledged that and am aware that low quality speakers will break, but as emma said, they are only temporary. But since active were so much more expensive, I think i’ll get passive with a powerful amp, so that for my next pair, I have the choice of passive or active. remember, I’m only 15 and doing very small parties. thanks for the input 🙂
and phil, I have been looking for used but can’t find what i want – yet. I think at the moment, only two mid-high speakers are in my price range, but in a month or two after purchase, a sub might be in my budget. I’ll update you all on anything new, thanks so much for the help. 🙂
Also, i talked to my parents about it and so far, so good. My mom looks upon the idea positively but my dad may need a little convincing. but overall, looking good on the idea. thanks again everyone!

This Really Is Wonderful Mike I Have To Say 😎 😎
I was 14 when I started on my DJ’ing (Career); and like you I had to get what I could with what Money I had available;
But to hear that you are Serious at Age 15; have some Backing from your Parents; and are already doing Small Parties is Brilliant 🙂July 18, 2011 at 12:08 am #4015Michael Fuchs

I too am very excited and continue to get more and more sucked into this new “world”. It’s good to know that you too got into this at a young age, and it makes me excited seeing how far you’ve gone. Thanks for the encouragement!
