MemberThe few that I have I purchased through yourremix.com (which I think is closed down) but you can still get them at their sister site http://www.yourdjdrops.com. The voice is very generic (although they do put your name in the drops) and so are the drops…for more money you can have them do custom drops as well where you write what you want them to say. They are good to have around for marking you mixes (better than pissing on them that’s for sure) and occasionally playing live for opening a show.

ParticipantThat’s a pretty cool trick Phil.
I originally went to Mitch Craig for my drops, mainly because he was that classic voice you would hear all over the old WBMX and B96 mixes back in the late 80s and into the early 90s. Click here to listen to a demo reel from Mitch.
Most of the time though I’d simply record people saying lines I wrote and then coach them on how to say it. I’d love to get drops that sound like Leona Graham, that BBC Radio 1 voice. Only downer is she’s very expensive. 🙁
Hey Emma…do you sound like Leona?

MemberWell, I got the singer from one band I was working with to record some stuff for me.. She called her to record a bass line for a song she made and while we were in the studio I asked her for a few short drops and got it done with no trouble.. It’s not hard to record and make your own.

This is a pretty decent tool Phil and a goldmine for the unboxed thinker.. I was toying around with it and realised that you can not only get it to do drops but vocal samples that you can use in productions 🙂 (if it’s your thing) … recreated the vocal bit from The Tapedeck Bros.’ Dance Of The Dead that goes, “When the dead come to life… they will dance” 🙂
