So as a supplement to my report, I came up with this theory. Since TIMECODE control and HID control is separated between ABS/REL mode and INT modes, I postulated a configuration where a DJ can have the best of both worlds controlling the SSL decks with BOTH CDJ AND VINYL TIMECODE. I haven’t been able to test this out yet but it looks possible. The DJ booth at my work place is too small to try this so I have to wait for them to get a second pair of Nexuses for the other club with the bigger booth. I’m not sure if anyone has tried this configuration yet switching back and forth between CDJ HID and TURNTABLE TIMECODE but here’s a run down of my theory if anyone wants to try it.

It’s more than just having 4 decks together, the CDJ’s are HID linked, and the turntables are in timecode mode.

Hmm while this setup is huge I can see this making total sense for a club to install permanently. I would not want to fly with it though.

Well the idea behind it, is that it is all standard equipment that should be easy to acquire in many cases. Probably just fly with your drum pad.

Hmm I can also see this working especially well for DJs using SSL with any kind of midi control (dicers, nano-pad,…) and simply add Nexus CDJs and a USB Hub.
