I use DJay because it is the only app with tight integration with my iDJ Pro (why app developers don’t make this the prime example for their app/controller integration is beyond me. The iDJ Pro for it’s money is the only true iPad integrated controller out there and it sits nice and safe INSIDE the controller). I definitely think it is lacking in many aspects. Not in the least no real beatgridding possibilities and the library is not very intuitive, the workflow is bad (way too little info on the screen) and you can’t add columns like KEY!. So no easy harmonic mixing.

The more stories I hear, the more I think MixVibes Cross (I can do DVS with my SC2900s) is a perfect candidate. Will have to use something else still for my iDJ Pro, hopefully Traktor DJ or DJ Player come out with good mappings and portrait orientation soon. Or, even better, Cross app comes in a mappable, portrait mode.

Oh well, interesting times. Let’s see where this road takes us.

I use Traktor 2. I started on virtual dj 5-6 years back and found it was limited in quality at the time. I had heard about Traktor and managed to get a light edition (which I found very hard to use) and went back to VDJ for a few months then I had a day where I decided it is time to learn how to use Traktor (couldn’t understand the separate wave forms, was so used to them being in line or side by side). After about an hour I was addicted and I haven’t looked back.

The mapping engine is one of the best I have seen for a DJ program (I like to think outside the box and this REALLY allows me to). The support available from DJTT alone is top to none, I have never even needed to go to native instruments own forum.

The built in effects are more then needed for a DJ and because they are built in you don’t have compatibility issues.

My DJ software is AV Music Morpher Gold and becoz it allows me to extract/remove vocal from songs, change timbre & pitch by moving cursors, fully support any music files, mix song, add effects, possess a premium wave file editor, manage the tool quickly and always provide high quality outputs!

Hmmm … did you write this program? Or did you just cut and paste this text from their website?
    It’s like reading an advertisement.

I wrote the first lines up to “…possess”, then my english stucked and I didn’t know how to describe it, I copied the rest from a website!
haha…it sounds like an advertisement? Sorry, i’m not good at writing long paragraph so I prefer this format!

Ps: English is not my spoken language…that’s why

***Just edited to a long paragraph in case my format isn’t allowed =.=! Thanks for reminding me! 🙂

    Traktor Pro 2.
It’s pretty simple yet powerful. In my experience, it’s very stable (far more than VDJ, which I started out on, though I’m sure the software has since improved). I love the MIDI mapping capabilities, I have as many as 5 different controllers running at one time, each controlling different things. The effects are nice, though I rarely use them. I’ve just found that I’m comfortable with the workflow and I know the software well, so I’m in no rush to switch.

My DJ software was VDJ PRO which i started using straight from playing Vinyl at Drum and Bass Raves…I have very recently acquired Deckadance v2 which on the surface seems ok but i’d love for someone to enlighten me on how to access your files on there i’m having problems…Because of this i have not done a show or played out , I have a gig in Brentwood (private) next week saturday and i’m thinking of reverting back to what i know , it mapped well with my controller its just the file thing thats letting me down any help would be a God send.

    Kindest Regards

    Souldeep.

I mainly use VDJ pro, because of the stacked waveforms, the easy map-to-anything, all the plugins available, the way simple sync works, and the way the music library is handled. And oh, Music Plan/Net search is also nice

I also own and use Serato DJ and Traktor Pro, and I would love to have the jogwheel integration from Serato and the effects and general sound quality from Traktor in VDJ

I may start using Serato DJ more.

I don’t think I will ever use Traktor on a regulary basis (library handling, no stacked waveforms and sync handling being the main reasons why)

    Best regards
    Klaus

My DJ Software and Traktor… I had SSL before I sold my turntables, and I enjoyed it well enough, but I demo’d Itch and Traktor when I was looking for a controller and preferred Traktor’s effects, mapping capabilities, and the responsiveness when paired with a NI controller. I have an S2 and 2 F1’s. I use the tekken F1 mapping for effects (if you have an F1, try this, it is awesome). I would love for Traktor to introduce side by side waveforms, although now I am so used to it I doubt it would matter much.

My *next* DJ software is The One DJ, because it is amazing XD I love the flexibility, live editing, possibilities with effects routing, the Ableton-esque MIDI mapping, unlimited decks (lots of samples!!!), etc. It has so much potential and I just love it!

So far my DJ software has been primarily iOS apps: first DJay 1, then Traktor DJ, then DJ Player 6, then back to DJay when v. 2 was released with those gorgeous waveforms and samples function (I like to record mine), and hopefully soon will check out the upcoming DJ Player 7.

Sure, I’ve also used Traktor Pro on a Mac, but I find the physical, tactile, even sensual aspects of using the iPad’s touch screen much better when paired up with the iDJ Pro, a very underrated board.

But, I will also confess that I’m looking at the new Numark NS7 II and feel so lured by what it offers, although I’m also worried about having to learn still one more app (Serato).

My DJ Software is Mixxx, and this is because:

    1. It’s free and open-source

    2. It supports ASIO for low latency and loads of DJ hardware (though I haven’t tried any except Behringer)

    3. It can sync BPM and has pitch lock, yet it still leaves the beat-matching (or break-cutting) to the DJ.

    4. It has looping, skins, customized folders, and most important, responsive

    <!–more–>

    5. Supports many music formats including WAV, Lossless, MP3, AAC…

    6.  Sounds great

    Serato.

It seems to be what 99% of (digital) Hip Hop DJ’s use, so that is good enough for me. The fact that my TM2 is actually made in conjunction with/for Serato also was obviously a factor.
