My DJ software is what ever software i decide to open for a gig, mainly i decide this by how much i want to limit my self to for that gig.Reason why,i really don’t know,i’ve used everything from Mixx to DJay to traktor and Virtual DJ,all Serato softwares and even some more obscure softwares that i don’t even care to remember the names of,and to be honest,I’ve found every single one just as easy to use as all others.Maybe it’s just me but software doesn’t make a huge difference to me,it just lets me eliminate the functions that i don’t plan on using for that time. Then again most DJ software i’ve seen is pretty much self explanatory and easy to figure out with just intuition and logic.

I use Serato DJ now(previously Itch) because it came with the controllers I bought for the business(NS6). I havent had any issues running it and once it was upgraded to Serato DJ it came out with some new features to play with that Itch didn’t have. Overall its pretty good and versatile enough for gigs ranging from clubs to weddings

    Traktor Pro 2.6.1.
Why? MIDI sync in/out and MIDI clockcontrol. (synced to NI Maschine and various stand alone hardware) and the software feels good to me.
(didn’t have that feeling with Virtual DJ or Serato.. although I must say that I really liked Virtual DJ’s beatmasher)

I intensify squarecell’s words, and I can add that with VDJ and it’s overlapped waveforms, I use advanced techniques jumping between bars of music and set songs beats exactly where I want.

Torq, because, being the utter noob that I am (and have been for 20 years) I couldn’t get ITCH to really work for me when I first got my NS7. Besides, I love the cross fader effects.

Now that Torq is discontinued, I’m trying to make my way over to Serato DJ and bought a Mix Track Pro 2 so I could familiarize myself with the software before it’s released for the NS7. I’m still not completely happy with the Serato software, but I’m slowly working around issues as they appear.

My DJ software is Serato Scratch Live. I don’t need all the bells and whistles of Traktor and most clubs here in the bay area have an SL box (I still bring mines for backup).

My new software is Ableton Live 9. It allows me to completely customize my tracks, effects, loops, etc. It has all the flexibility of a DAW with the functionality and fluidity I need to DJ.

Itch or Ableton Live 8, depending what I’m doing. I like that I can use Ableton more like an instrument, hook up a couple of my drum pads through my Alesis DM10 and whack a MIDI keyboard in. Or djay on my ipad for house parties 🙂

My DJ software is VDJ, and this is why: I’m a video dj, and you can’t go wrong with virtual dj, visualizations, recording and format I want to use it’s there.

i had to switch dj programs, from vdj to mixvibes, this is why…..i use 2 technics and a midi enabled mixer with 2 ortofon concorde om pro s carts and needles right, in vdj serato timecodes actually suck cownutz with a DVS system plus u cannot switch the sample rate which is a huge minus for me, plus when i use timecoded vinyl, i should not have any blips, etc. but vdj has not fixed their timecode engine sand it kills my mixes and live performances, i even cleaned my vinyl 3 times b4 i use the vinyl (alcohol and water which keeps my vinyl dust free….dont ask me why), thats my main thing about vdj, but mixvibes…ahhh man its alot cleaner and simpler!!!!!!!! basically all the same features as vdj BUT HELL OF ALOT CHEAPER!!! EVEN WHEN U BUY THE VIDEO PLUG IN!!!! I PAID JUST UNDER 200 FOR EVERYTHING!! as to vdj….300 with a garbage timecode engine, the vinyl timecode engine is flawless!!!! plus they use a different frequency when using vinyl timecode and they made their timecoded cd as HD! no issues, no blips, no nothing and i can switch sample rates !!!!

I use Mixvibes Cross. I’ve because there is no match to it out there. I’ve tryed Djay,VDJ,SeratoDJ,Deckadance 2, Mixxx, Traktor.
Of all I’ve tried Traktor is the nicest alternative and has better FX then all other I’ve tried (But I’m not an FX DJ only use a little reverb(Ice Reverb) and echo freeze and Filter) Sampler is also better if you have an F1 or MF3d with out them sampler becomes almost usless. And after some time you get to reliant of the info on screen to mix (atleast I did)
Serato DJ there is only one controller that has the almost full version. DDJ SX is the only one that has all futures of the software whithout thee need for a second controller. VCI400 has no slicer and VCI380 has no sampler.
Deckadance 2 has some dam nice futures but verry few new controllers are suported and no midi out so you get no visual feedback from you controller witch makes it impossible to mix with.
Mixx well tryed it and just did not like it (No real reason was just not for me)
Djay is nice and I do like it but in some way it’s just to limeted to what I want to do and those visual turntables look stupid.
Virtual DJ also one of the better once but to get it to do what you want it to do, you need to learn alot about scripting and that not what DJ’ing is about.
Mixvibes Cross simple layout and easy to setup what you want displayed on screen. really good analizing and bestgriding function. Best smart playlist future I’ve seen. HID for all of Pioneer CDJ’s with usb connection 350>2000 nexus. any 4/4 soundcard for Timecode. Video plugin is also incredable separate video/audio loading so if your not a music video DJ you can still mix video visuals and normal music DJ’ing at the same time. And what I’ve got hints from their forum it’s going to get much more and better.
