My DJ software is Traktor LE, and this is why: It came free with my Numark Mixtrack Pro. At present it seems okay for my needs and I find Traktor better for mixing house music than Virtual DJ Free as it appears to beat match more accurately.Unfortunately, with Traktor LE you cannot record a mix so I have to use Virtual DJ for this and the results have been good mainly as I am just fading in and out, cutting or playing the whole track ( my mixes tend to be Soul, balearic, chillout, reggae or disco when beat matching is not really required.I have produced some decent house mixes using Mixmeister ( the original version ) or Mixmeister Fusion. You cannot really play out using Mixmeister.I would be happy to do a party using Traktor LE but I don’t like Serato Intro version ( which also came free with the Mixtrack pro ) as it appears there is only one “deck”!? How on earth does this work!?

    You?

Phil What controller do you use with Itch?

Mark, you need to plug in your Mixtrack Pro once you have opened the Serato Intro software. When you have done this you will see two decks. You will then have nicely coloured waveforms and have access to the effects and load samples. I presume the version you can see without the controller is so you can prepare tracks, put in cue marks etc.
It’s really rather good and seems to load up almost immediately. I found Traktor LE a bit fiddly in that respect.
I hope this helps and maybe expands your enjoyment of the Mixtrack Pro.
    Cheers

PS Groovy hair by the way.

Traktor came with my old Stealth Control. Preferred the yellow and black color scheme. Simple x]

When i started looking at upgrading my hardware, I also looked at the software. I gave vdj a go (i was especially intrigued by the video mixing capabilities, although never quite explored it..)
Now that i know the programs a little better, I prefer Traktor’s method of syncing (Quantize and Snap >in vdj when you can hear it “slide” over if you dont hit play EXACTLY on the beat, since you have to sync it afterwards….. very gross lol)
I also prefer the separate “side by side” stripe views… you can easily look at a chunk of a track and based on the minute markers easily determine where phrases of say 32 or 64 beats are.

Now that i have T2pro, (despite my favorite color scheme being gone) I am definitely addicted to the new spectrum waveform display. Its just too good. My hardware is now the MC6k from Denon & im working on modifying Altamira’s TSI ton include the couple of beatgridding functions i still need to grab my mouse for.

Once Traktor can analyze the Key of your track, and suggest similarly keyed tracks like Vdj, there would be no reason for me to even mention Vdj in a comparison thread.

I use Traktor Pro 2 because its functionality, reliability, and accessibility. I started out with VDJ free and loved the way it felt but I felt held back in the way of effects (which is mostly what I use).

I absolutely love the effects by themselves and when you can mix them, you can create thousands of unique sounds. In addition, I like how all the effects that use beats like Beatmasher and Gater, have setting that match the beat so the effects are right in time. I had a hard time in VDJ syncing effects like the phaser.

I also like being able to see all the information that I could ever possibly need to see all the time. One thing that is to be desired is the overlapping waveforms that are in VDJ and Serato. Otherwise I like the deep midi customization, loop recorder, sample decks, EQ’s, stability, the 8 cue points per deck, and just ridiculous amount of polish.

I haven’t tried Serato yet so don’t hold my word for it, but from what I’ve heard its a mix between VDJ and Traktor 2.

My DJ software is VDJ because of its affordable price and easy to use interface.

I’m currently using Torq because I like the workflow, but lately I still question if AVID is going to continue supporting the software.

If they ditch it, then I’m torn between Traktor and VDJ. Traktor I keep feeling like is the “least likely to be abandoned”, but I do like the workflow of VDJ better.

Been using VDJ for 6 years since version 4. At that time, it was the only one really out there per se. It was and has always been known as the beginners digital DJ software. Used it sparingly until version 6 came out in 09′. Then i started to get serous with it.It has served me very well over the years and as stable as need it to be.

For me , it works well, is easy to learn, magnificent to map, has loads of skins and wonderfully does video out of the box. It also has a one off payment policy which actually works out cheaper on the long run for the pro version.

I have been loyal with VDJ and i am pinning my hopes on VDJ8. If that dosen’t change the game as i expect, i might be jumping ship to Serato.

My DJ software is Serato Scratch Live, & this is why

    1. It was passed on from my great grandfather to my grandfather, who passed it on to my father who gave me the strong advice what you can’t do with 2 decks you won’t do with with 4 🙂

Just messing…I like SSL cause it feels natural for me with my style of play. I don’t push too many buttons, less is more for me.

I have tried almost all the DJ programs I can…PCDJ, Mixx, Traktor, VDJ, Torq. Despite Native Instruments massive marketing engine which is trying to create a strong doubt in me that “Traktor is the way & the only way” I find myself going back to scratch live all the time. So I am a 98% SSL user.

you can change the color scheme so you can have orange, which is almost like yellow

My DJ software is Traktor pro 2, & this is why

i was using vdj up to yesterday and now swaped to traktor i like it because there is no parallel waveform which for me makes me feel like im back at good old hardware and vinyl ( looking at the grooves for brakes ect) + the beatgridding is just off the chart

As of now, my DJ software is djay for iPhone. I haven’t really taken delivery of my equipment yet. It allows me to mix songs everywhere and anywhere. Also, it’s pretty good when I need to djay at small events, such as my friends party.

Yeah thats where I started and then I expanded to VDJ and eventually to Traktor. I highly recommend you take the jump to VDJ if you haven’t. You don’t really need any gear (besides a laptop) and you get so much more control over everything.
