    I’ve been wrestling with this question too. Just moved my library to a new laptop, and itunes jacked everything to hell. Luckily everything transferred over in serato in the same crates/playlists.

    I arrange by genre, using playlists/crates (different software, different name).

    But it’s not just music genres like Hiphop or Rock. It may be for diffent event types, different feels and so on.
    Some songs are in multiple lists

    I mostly do mobile DJ’ing, and move through the lists doing the night (5-6 hours) – and use the search function to quickly get to a song thats not in the current list (like a request or something i suddenly figures out I wan’t to play)

    I then evaluate the night, and continue to add and remove songs to/from my mostly used playlists/crates for future gigs

    If this helps I often use not standard ways of creating lists, maybe I’m making things pretty hard but im confident with gruping music by the mood and similar bpm, tempo. This may look weird but it work pretty well for me.

    Well it depends, on the software.
    In my serato dj I organize my folders by individual artists and genres and build crates and playlists according to the type of party I play.
    In my virtual dj I organize my folders by genre and build playlists.

    You wouldn’t happen to own an IDJ3 would you?

    and so on… with so much cross over now a day I use the primary Harmony for my folder
    Latin
    Salsa
    Merengue
    Bachata
    and so on…

    For some reason when I hit post it change everything,
    Dance, Decades, Edm, Latin are my main folders and the other ones are subfolder

    ok so lets say my folder is hip hop then I add sub folders for the different types of hip hop, for example: laid back hip hop, way back hip hop, new hip hop and so on???
    My funk I have sub folder by artist name or album. Like Rick James and or Old School vol. 1
