Tell us a bit more about your computer, what software etc.

if it’s only one side thats doing it, it’s probably not software. It’s probably not recognizing when you’re touching it and nudging instead of scratching. Hardware defect maybe

Its a new HP Envy notebook and I’m using Serato DJ intro right now. It’s been fine the last couple days, but it still worries me a little

Does it have an AMD processor? Serato doesn’t really play nice with all AMD’s unfortunately…

No, it’s an i5 processor. It happens every once in a while, but if I unplug it from the USB port (I’m using a 3.0 if that matters), and plug it right back in, that seems to fix the problem.

Might be a bad usb cable

Hmm then it might be the USB 3 chip and driver. It happens in Windows sometimes, even Macs suffered from this until Mavericks, but not all Notebook manufacturers have updated their USB drivers, especially in consumer lines.
So you may check if a HP EliteBook has the same chipset and check if the updated driver from them works with your book.

I also have a couple 2.0 USB ports. Would those maybe work better?

Give it a shot. The mixtrack is only a usb 2 device anyway
