    I have tried both of them!Both of them are good intro controllers!MixtrackPro 3 has better longer tempo faders while Pioneers are not precise even sometimes they stuck(in software I mean)!On the other hand Pioneer has bigger jog wheels and in my opinion larger and more userfriendly performance pads!Both of them don’t have gain controls so in your case I would take an eye on Pioneer DDJ-SB2 which is a few bucks more!

    Best regards!

    Yeah from what I can work out the tempo faders on the mixtrack are better but then you can also have 4 deck control on the sb2 and like you say the performance pads seem more user-friendly, and I take it the build quality is very similar?

    Forget about 4 deck control on a unit with only two upfaders. It’s just a gimmick and will never be practical to use. If you want 4 decks, get a proper 4 deck controller, or just rock out with 2 decks.

    I also would prefer the Mixtrack. As Todd said the 4 deck control is a gimmick.

    Click detection at 0 isn’t on everyone’s wish list. Generally it causes some inaccuracy around the 0% mark due to mechanical issues. Personally I don’t mind either way, but I know a lot of DJs who like their pitch faders without indents.

    Both SB and MTP are good controllers, as are Beatmix 2, MC2000 and (more expensive) MC4000. ALL of them are more than sufficient for starters. Some of the “problems” you mention can easily be solved by using some gear that you would need anyway if you start playing out for real (like a backup option through a small PA mixer, which will give you mic input and XLR output for example).

    @Kenroy
    : While you are free to never want to buy any of those controllers, we appreciate if you would express your opinion rather than state things as if they are the hard truth. Statements like “all these entry level controllers are a joke” are not appreciated on these forums. They lead to needless “he said/she said” discussions and polarization. It also isn’t very nice towards the owners of such controllers of which we have plenty (trust me when I say your RMX is outnumbered a 1000 to 1) saying that the gear they own is a joke.

    So, by all means contribute to the forum, give advice or your opinion, but do it in a way that follows the posting rules of these forums. Not following the posting guidelines WILL result in sanctions.

    I like the TM8’s solution… instead of a click at 0, you have a light at 0 that goes on to alert you… good compromise, IMO.

    The Numark NV has the light (which I like) at 0 no click, but it is 3 times the price of the MTP 3
