We’ve been keeping an eye on this – I think we’ll look at covering it on the main blog.

It’s a great app. I was using it yesterday for about 4-5 hours. apart from my grandaughter turning the pc off halway through then nieghbours having a barney(not with me) it worked without a hitch. I have also witnessed they have great support/help/resolution team in place too.

Well, where do I start? Last weekend i upped my package from Mixlr and was bitterly disappointed with the 128k stream quality.
I wrote to their support team about paying extra for a higher quality stream. Guess what? Not only did they increase it to 192k, they did it at no extra cost permonth(about $8 Australian). So huge ups to mixLR support!
Now, here’s the thing, the speed is increased, quality is more acceptable, and I am very happy with that but this act alone opens up other potential problems.. Not everyone has high speed broadband and the higher(in speed/quality) one goes the demographic starts to become reduced. The other downside is streaming a higher bit rate means an average, say, 4-5 hour session will eat (exaggerated rounding) about 1/2 a gig of a listeners data plan… The data side doesn’t bother me as I have 150 gigs a month to play with, but others are not so fortunate…..
Yes there is a question in all of this! Is 192 k too much to ask of listeners, or should I be strict on the quality of the stream I am broadcasting?

I’d definitely stick to 128 for online radio, for all the reasons you suggest.

We broadcast all our shows at 192. Not sure why, but we do.

128kbps shouldn’t sound bad at all unless they ‘say’ it’s 128 when, in fact, it’s lower
I listen to DI.fm @ 96kbps and I can’t really complain about the sound quality or the streaming.

Can anyone advise on how I can use Mixlr with the following setup:

    Numark Mixtrack (not Pro)
NI Audio 2 DJ (2 stereo outputs, no input)
Laptop (1 stereo output, 1 mic input)
(optional) SoundBlaster X-Fi external USB soundcard (1 stereo output, 1 line-in)

I tried using the master output channels set in Traktor as my input for Mixlr but it doesn’t detect any sound. Do I really need a physical connection going into the laptop to be able to use it? Like a wire from my master output to a mic or line-in port in the laptop (or in the Soundblaster card)?

I’m open to any ideas. Thanks!

Do you have the Audio 2 set as the default sound card on your computer?

Not sure then. It lets me pick my mixer as the audio source.

When I select my master channel (Audio 2 DJ Ch. A 1&2), Mixlr says “Warning: Silent input detected”. So it considers that no sound is going through that channel.

Am I going at it in the wrong way in terms of inputs vs. outputs?

Are you sure your not picking a mic in or line in jack on the computer?
