You’re probably getting the radio edits. If it’s a popular top 40 track, there will be tonnes of remixes all with longer intros, breaks, and outros available.

Cool! Any suggestions as to where I can find these? (legally).

The DJ City record pool is a great source for remixes and not overly expensive.

    Thanks guys! I appreciate that.

I was looking at DJ City. When I sign up can I download any of the stuff I saw on their website, or do I only get new stuff as it’s released?

Top 40 stuff isn’t the easiest stuff to mix, mainly because of the reason you pointed out “short intro’s and outros”. One way I get around it is by looping what intro and outro I have, this basically makes them longer.

Also, a lot of top 40 stuff these days is “I don’t like using this term” …. EDM… and these tracks are normally available in extended mix versions. In other words, DJ FREINDLY versions. Try downloading them rather than the radio edit versions.

    Hope this helps 🙂

Anything – so it’s a great way to backfill your collection if needed. Be aware that they only leave tracks on for so long though, they aren’t an archive (8 months to a year or so seems to be the average).

I have a huge weekly residency playing top 40 type stuff, and you’re right it can be a bitch with the short intro/outros, like people said sometimes extended versions are good, but also sometimes they’re too long, people that like Top 40 generally have short attention spans, I find when I mix Top 40 I’m a lot more heavy on the loops and cutting, if you do it right you can have a ball mixing and get a lot more technical then if you were mixing straight up four to the floor house.
