If I remember correctly the Impact has a mixer and throughputs in the sub.
However for 150 people the lucas impact should be enough on its own actually unless you want to use the Mackies for a side room or harder access areas (which happens at weddings as rooms are not really circular or rectangular there…).
If that is the case then I would run the Mackies off the throughput channels of the Impact sub, that is me assuming however that the mixer in the sub can handle that and it has been almost 2 years since I had the Impact in use… but you can easily check the setup at home and if the volume control on the throughputs works as you expect it then go for it.

I used the Lucas Impact for I think 100 people, but I had loads of headroom for more, so I expect no problem with 150, especially at a wedding where volume should not be like in a club…

    Thanks Terry,

I can run the Mackies from the Impact sub (just tried it) but going on what you said, I think I will just leave them in the car as back up as the LUCAS PA should be enough 🙂

I did a party for about 100 people outdoors last weekend and although the Impact was up to near full output, everyone seemed happy enough with the sound…

    Cheers!

Yes the HK usually can handle full power well. Also outside you will need almost twice the power compared to an inside location.

just a quick thought…. could you run one PA setup off of the master output and then the other off of the booth out, then if during the gig you feel you need more volume, just turn up the extra speakers. just a thought….. let us know how it goes…. Moonshadow

Yep, you CAN use the booth output for a second set of speakers. It would have the obvious down side of no longer having a booth speaker! Also the booth speaker is wired to NOT play the microphone sound. Now while this might be ok if you play at a venue and don’t use a mic, there is no way you are gonna get away with playing a wedding or other function without using a mic.

My advice would be to get a small PA mixer with at least 1 aux output. You can now run your controller into the PA mixer, have your master outputs with their own volume control power your PA and you can use the aux to control the second set of speakers, also with it’s own volume control.

Thanks for the input here guys. I reckon I should just set the Mackie’s up on separate stands next to the two satellite tops from the Impact. As Terry suggests I would run the Mackies off the throughput channels of the Impact sub. I would probably not even have the Mackie’s turned up but just have them set up just in case. If I did need extra volume then I could simply walk 5 meters in each direction and turn up the volume on the Mackies… This avoids the need for a small PA mixer and still allows use of the mic (I think !!!). It also gives me peace of mind if, in the worse case scenario, the Impact failed.

Sounds like a plan. Always good to have a backup 😀

    Good luck and greetinx.
