DJ Vintage
ModeratorIf set up correctly you would hear the master output over the RCA master output of your MTP3 (and obviously hear nothing if you don’t connect any speakers to it 🙂 ). Through the cue buttons you would be able to pre-listen to tracks not yet mixed in (cross- and/or channelfader closed to the prelistened track).
If you have a track selected for pre-listening (CUE) you can now move the cue mix knob in the middle from the cue position fully left towards the right. The more to the right you turn it, the more you will also hear the master output and presto!, happy wife!
As for setting the controller correctly, I’d have to pass the baton to other readers that know more about VDJ (the one software I don’t have on my PC), preferably in combination with the MTP3.

ParticipantHmm thats sounds logical..So the “Cue Mix” knob is probably the fix. As mentioned i just purchased it. I Appreciate the SWIFT DJ VINTAGE, and will let you know if that worked..If anyone can assist in the correct configuration it would be appreciated.
Thank YOU

ParticipantWell that seems to work fine..Will take a little getting used to but serves the purpose for now [Happy Wife].
Thank You DJ VINTAGE you are

ParticipantI don’t have a MTP so this will have to be a little general, but Virtual should automatically recognize the unit (make sure you have the newest version running on your system) and set up the proper configuration for you. Under config, the sound settings should be something along the lines of:
Master -> ASIO -> Chan 1&2
Headphones -> ASIO -> Chan 3&4If they are something wildly different try and grab a screen shot and I can give you some more detailed instructions.

ParticipantThank You Todd Oddity I will check the config i am using VDJ8 Software but with the VDJ7 SKIN [I just got 8 and am coming from VDJ7PRO] MY CONFIG
MASTER REALTEK WASAPI CHANNEL 1&2
HEADPHONES REALTEK WASAPI CHANNEL 3&4I Was thinking just to go buy an RCA to 3.5 and go out the controller and back into the PC ??? Again with the old controller mixtrackII i had no RCA out..

ParticipantThere’s your problem – you aren’t routing your sound through the controller. You should have those set to the Numark drivers instead of the Realtek ones.
That should fix you up.

ParticipantSooo I am getting the hang of my new MTP3 and VDJ8 using the config that was suggested BUT I am now noticing that even with the Master at 1/2 and sliders for each deck at about 3/4 i am peaking the LED on the PC but not on the controller. Also when i listen to said Mixx the sound quality is not crisp??? now perhaps i need a Numark Sound Card because right now i mickey moused the set up so my assumption is that it is not optimal..Would a soundcard make a diff in quality ?? And why am i peaking ??
Thanx in advance

ParticipantHrm… you should be able to output only to your controller from VDJ, I would think. I would not think you need a separate soundcard, in any case, the one in the MTP3 should be PLENTY sufficient.
Do you have something like Audacity (or some other audio editor) loaded onto your computer? Maybe load up one of your recorded sets and see what the waveform looks like – is it clipping or too low?
How does it sound in your headphones?

ParticipantOk i will try Audacity, It sounds ok in headphone as i cue. btw I am sending it to speakers. Mixxing while wifey is away lol. but the play back sounds crappy to me. it was better on my MIXTRACK II. I am sure it just needs some tweaking..I looked on line about the peaking in VDJ it mentioned to lower ZERO DB to like 0.75 in settings but i do not show that in settings in VDJ8 So i will try and adjust gains and masters.
As always thank you “DEATHY”

ParticipantHopefully we can get it sorted… VDJ isn’t my strong suit, so also hopefully someone who is more familiar with it might chime in.

ParticipantOn many systems the ZeroDB setting seems to be way too high. Open up config, go to options, make sure advanced settings is checked (in the top corner), then in the search type “zerodb”. Once you see the setting, try the -3 or -6 and see if that helps you out (I keep mine at -6).
If you are using a Mixtrack Pro 3 then it already has a sound card – you do not need to purchase another one.
