Chuck and I will be on a yachting trip together next week, so we will have time to discuss the rules over some cocktails while sailing into sunset 😉

lol, lucky buggers. All I’m doing next week is starting a 10 week course in small business management.. which I have to read about 40 documents about tax over the weekend to prepare for… yaaaaaay. XP

A contest would be cool. especially if you had multiple creative categories to be considered for. Like>>>>
* best stripped mix ( no effect minimal loops no fancy stuff)
* best beat matched
* best freestyle
* most painful =)
* best mash-up/ remix
buncha best and worst things and give away all sorts of stuff. personally Id like to win one of those little mini mixers for blending songs from two phones or mp3 players.. cheers!!

Well, Terry and I are back from our trip and had a pleasant and effective discussion on what is to come.

@ibdjfred: It’s most likely not going to be as elaborate as that. But I think we have come up with a concept that will appeal to most and also gives room for enough creative energy. As I said, keep your eyes on this place!

The wait is hopefully almost over. Terry and I are finishing up the competition concept (today even?) and then it goes on to Phil Morse for final evaluation, adjustment and approval.

So, keep your fingers crossed guys!

1) Would you like to see such a competition? If yes, how often (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly, other)?
An amazing idea! A monthly competition would be very cool to have on ddjt.

2) Would you participate if we had such competition? If yes, would you participate occassionally or every time?
I would participate every time, just to get to know how great am I doing.

3) Do you think there should be a senior/junior DJ competition or just one big one?
Well, I cant seem to see djing as senior/junior but lets say a live mix with video and a mix only competition.

4) What criteria do you think a mix should be judged on?
I leave this one up to the judges.

5) What kind of reward do you think is suitable for the winner?
If its not a big pain-in-the-butt for ddjt, then something like a pair of headphones would be great (For me at least), But the fact that the djs have participated in the competition is more than a prize.

Hey, I haven’t read the whole thread, and will do so to see what other’s ideas are, but I’d wonder if it would be possible to do some Q&A style videos, such as what DJTLM is doing on YouTube… I think it’s the Saturday sessions vids. People take a supplied beat and sound/s and “answer” in the sections where TLM isn’t scratching, I think it’s like 2 bars at a time… he then puts these all together into a Q&A video. I’m going to try to get in on the next round, and will also be following this thread to see what develops from it. Keep shining folks…..

Monthly is the best in my opinion

Most as I can

May be a begginer/old competition, sometimes young guys could be better than old guys vice versa

Skills, creativity, song choices.

promotion on the website could be the best thing for the winner, perhaps some goodies for bigger competitions but that’s all.

I would like to see a friendly competition. I feel that quarterly is the best option. I’m already attempting to release a mix every three months, and sometimes I make mini mixes already. Adding a monthly mix wouldn’t make it into my schedule.

Yes, as many times as I could.

One big one. I think people would be amazed what they can accomplish, even if they are a ‘junior’.

No comment.

Bragging rights.
