Decide what you want from the controller – do you just want keys (in which case, look at the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32) or do you want pads and/or other controls built in as well?

The Novation Launchkey that you mentioned looks like a decent controller – but I don’t think that I could effectively use a keyboard with that few keys.. 3 octaves would be my minimum really (which would be a 37 key controller – a long way from 25)..

Depends what you want though. I can actually play the piano (sort of..) so I want a controller I can really use to program my computer.. Personally I use an old 88 key keyboard for composing on – so old I have plugged it in with MIDI cables rather than USB – but I wouldn’t want anything smaller. It has lots of velocity sensitive keys, and it is huge.. But I don’t need it to be portable.. So it works for me..

    Find what works for you..

Depending on where you see yourself going with producing music, the Roland Aira is a good setup to look at. Very attractrive pricing and you can put together a setup that suits your best. Last year they added the keyboard I think.
