I have a Midifighter Pro BM with a custom mapping that i made and i will never DJ a CLUB gig without it again. It has totally changed the way i DJ…Being able to add multiple effects and sweeps while dropping new tracks is a total game changer.

The Midi Fighters, especially the Pro are extremely well built and have very high flexibility.
The instant gratification mappings are very nice, but you should really configure everything on your own, then they truely shine.

Hey Terry. Would it work with VDJ LE? or would I have to upgrade to something different?

You would need the full mapping capabilities of VDJ. The VDJ LE version I know do not support mapping beyond the controller they come with and I had VDJ pro for quite some time… I would recommend upgrading to a Pro Software before going for a Midi Fighter.

I used to take my classic midi fighter to gigs and use the instant gratification mapping. Super easy to add a little more to the mix without any effort at all. The mapping stopped working after the 2.5 update and I haven’t bothered to try anything else out since then. In answer to your question, the midi fighter is a great investment.

I usually only take my midi fighter for Club gigs, for mobile gigs depending on the style of gig i may bring it but often i dont use it.

However…i agree with Steelo…it is an amazing piece of equipment and i am so happy i invested in it.

Any chance you’d like share your mapping (for us lazy mappers ie me)?

    Hi,

Sorry took me a while to respond, yeah i can share my mapping but i do not think it will work properly for you as mine is made specifically for the Beatmasher pro version of the Midifighter. If you want i can still upload it.

Yeah you’re probably right. I’m moving back home to Australia in less than a week so I’ll need some stuff to keep me busy. I’ll have to get some mapping done finally.

    Hey Steelo

To download my Mapping. It will work for the original Midifighter but you will have to do some customization.

My mapping is my complete mapping for the S4 and the Midifighter BM plus my keyboard presets which have a couple of small changes.

Import the mapping Delete Everything in the device manager within Traktor except the following

Deck Focus-Effect Reset – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to focus in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
    MF_FX 4Banks [A] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck A in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
    MF_FX 4Banks – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck B in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
    MF_FX 4Banks [C] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck C in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
    MF_FX 4Banks [D] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck D in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM

Those are the only ones you need…and of course set the in and out to the midi fighter classic.

As well you will need to go into

    http://www.djtechtools.com/midi-fighter-setup/

and change it to 4 Banks internal mode for it to work properly. This mapping i know works 100% with the new Traktor update.

The Deck Focus Effect reset is used so that with every deck you switch to it switches all the parameters back to original so you dont need to double tap any of the buttons to switch the Deck Reset. The Device for that one is labled:

Deck Focus-Effect Reset – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to focus in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM

As well in my original mapping i also included the ability to still use the effects knobs and stuff on my S4. This combined with the Deck Focus Effect Reset allows me to control pretty much any effects i want on the fly without having to scroll through and select.

I have all the custom effects of my Midi Fighter and on top i have 3 preset effects which you can switch to by pressing Shift + the Wet/Dry button on the effects section of the S4.

This one here makes it so you can use Effects Bank 1 and 2 on all 4 decks. Normally with the 4 Banks of effects 1 would goto A 2>B 3>c 4>D. This makes it so you can apply Effects bank 1 and 2 to all 4 decks. 6 effects is more than enuff for added customization along with the midi fighter imo. See Below.

    FX Reset-Effects Reset – Traker.Kontrol S4.User (KontrolS4) – Set to focus in:KontrolS4 out:KontrolS4

So long story short it would work like this:

Press deck focus on the Midi fighter, and bang away, hit Shift+Dry/wet on the S4 and use the knobs, then hit the deck focus again to switch all the effects back to the midi fighter.
