I feel that the DJ-Tech Boombox from Namm 2015, which you can see mentioned here, looks like it would be a very street looking option, but it is really hard to find any information about it on the net.

DJ-Tech is a freaking HORRIBLE brand name, too many false results from Google… especially when the product is called “Boombox.”

Those guys could learn a thing or two about branding.

Frankly, I wouldn’t touch DJ-Tech with a 10-feet pole. It’s what I call christmas tree brand. It’s so cheap you can buy stuff there for your young kids for a christmas present. Definitely not something I’d want hanging on to the back of my 800 bucks controller.

More serious alternatives would be the Mackie Freeplay (also NAMM 2015 news), but you’d need two and two stands, which is suboptimal if you want to carry that stuff out to the street I imagine.

One of my favorite portable stereo speakers is the Roland BA-330. Great sound (don’t expect pounding bass from it, but then again, no serious battery-powered kit will give you that for any length of time) and runs like forever on a set of 8 (I think) penlite. Buy two sets of rechargeables and an extra holder and you can swap it out in 30 seconds flat and never have to buy batteries again.

You forgot to mention if you want 2 or 4 channels. But there is a lot to choose from. For outdoor use the way you describe it, it might be handy if you can keep your laptop to the side. The Numark NV is a serious option. At the top end of your budget, but seems to have it all. 8 pads, 4-channel, touch sensitive mixer part (not sure if the FX buttons are touch sensitive too though), jogs, USB-powered. Other alternatives are the DDJ-SR, the Reloop Beatmix 2 and 4 and even something on the low end like the Mixtrack Pro 2 would potentially tick most of your boxes (althoug I think only the Numark has touch sensitive anything).

DJ Vintage – Good to know. I don’t know the brand, just felt that the machine looked like a good portable street PA.

Yeah, it’s one of those brands that is more flash than function. 😀

What about that Novation Twitch? It’s a little dated now, but meets most of the requirements and is a small footprint.

    – Jogwheels for occasional scratching

That kinda answers that, don’t you think? 😀

Thanks for the replies. Currently I own the Mixtrack Pro 2. And I also decided to use Traktor and bought it. The Mixtrack Pro 2 is MIDI mappable in Traktor, which is good, but I feel like I need more buttons (Only 8 of the Mixtrack Pro 2 Pads have multiple assignments).

Of all the controllers mentioned, I know that the TM8 and NV are Traktor compatible. But the NV’s on-board screens will not work when running Traktor, so I guess I’m not going for it unless it has some special features other controllers don’t have.

I also decided to emphasize scratching more in my routines. Which of the controllers have the best jogwheels for scratching? I heard the TM8 and other Reloop controllers do and professional turntablist DJ Angelo has used them.

And about the PA system, I might go for the BA-330, but are there any cheaper ones that are good too?

    Also both need power connectors.
The Terminal Mix 4 runs off USB but the knobs are smaller.
The reloop Jockey 3 Remix is compact, but does not tick all the boxes.
The NI S4 is prolly the best choice but also needs power.
