Actually, i think the mixer is worth it’s money (no offense intended, terry_42 🙂 )

I own and use it in my setup and the sound quality is excellent. If you’re looking for nothing to fancy, portable and with the ability to mix mic/2 audio sources, you should consider it – depending on what you would like to do with. So,how would you like to use it?

I actually have a cheap Xenyx as a throw-in-the-box who knows mixer. So far has worked fine but I only use it as a temp solution when I suddenly need a small mixer between the keyboards at a gig or something similar. Certainly never for production work.

I want to start producing various EDM songs (sorry for using that term) and also hip-hop/rap beats. I heard that a mixer/audio interface was needed, if this mixer will be able to be used as a sound card please tell me. I know some people who sing and rap, so i thought that this setup seemed really cost effective.

You only need a mixer if you are going to record multiple mics at the same time or let’s say consolidating a large set of external gear such as hardware synthesizers. Otherwise all you need is a good audio interface, check out low-end Apogees and FocusRites. Avoid Behringer, cheap but their support is pretty dismal.

The web site tells what it is used for.

Let me expand on my No (I was in a hurry yesterday, sorry):
Both products are fine if you use them for what they are meant: Live when volume is all you need.
Both have a lot of added humm and hiss, since the noise from their parts is considerable.
I would even say that a simple Sure SM58 has a better noise ratio than that Behringer condenser mic (no matter what the technical specs tell you).
The mixer is even worse with its hiss and getting a production mixer is extremely expensive. This is why most people that do home recording shy away from a mixer and simply do it in software as Logics (for example) internal mixer is coolio if you have a “multi input soundcard” that is decent quality.
For example I use a good multi soundcard with Logic and have for rappers the good old SM58 and some more expensive (but still dynamic) AKG and Sennheiser Mics. This will outperform this equipment by miles.

Sorry I didn’t word that right, I meant if it would be good to start producing and what it could help me with when I get software, and also as an afterthought I was wondering if it is good or not. Sorry for all the questions.
