    The 2011 will be more than adequate to run DJ & production applications on. The new MBP’s are really nice though. If I could afford it I would probably consider getting one. Either way getting the solid state hard drive is one of the most important things, then sufficient ram after that. The processor is closer to the bottom of the pecking order but obviously if you can afford to get on the higher end then do it.

    I thought the SSD was for the MB Air not Pro. Why is SSD so important?

    SSD is much faster than a regular hard drive and less susceptible to damage if for instance you dropped your laptop. Check out this link from the MiK book that basically explains everything you need to know about buying a laptop for DJing:

    For DJing there will be no issue with the old one. Apart from being a moving thing a normal HD is sufficient. Just backup your software and you can easily buy a 1 TB pocket drive for backup for the cash you save.
