    I used to produce a little, open up an Operator and mess around with it, once you find what you like write some midi chords and youre set. also use google and youtube, lots of stuff there for help

    Could you post an example of what you are trying to reproduce (youtube link or something like that)? I’m not exactly sure what you mean.. Ellie Goulding – Lights (bassnectar remix)? What I hear in that track is a sidechained and modulated bass pad. Also, maybe it’s best to try programming some timbres in a bit less sophisticated synth like the Sylenth1 first if you’re new to producing.
