It’s probably the most obvious answer, just don’t look at the screen. That’s how I did/do it.

Practice, practice and then practice. Close eyes and practice some more. 8 months later I could beat match with some confidence. Years later I could tell that a band who played an Oasis tune actually played the song in the wrong key this is when I realised that I had trained my ear.

Turntables. I don’t miss those days at all with the exception of the superior sound of new vinyl.

I use an NS7FX. I had to put electrical tape over the “cheat sheet” on the unit and turn the laptop away from my face.

I tilt my screen far enough I can’t see it and look away. It looks stupid. But works.

Turntables, there’s no way to cheat. If you don’t have those just find a way to hide all the relevant information so you can’t see it. Oh, and practice, practice, practice. It gets easier with time.

you can just turn off all the visual features in your softwear…phase meter, no sync, beat counter, bpm info and collapse the deck so you can see the wave form

I have a stack of vinyl I haven’t played in a long time. But no turntables. I’m considering buying a pair of used turntables to really get a feel for the art of beat matching.

There really is no need for turntables. With crappy used turntables you just get frustrated by how bad the pitch faders are on that things.
I would recommend to really just black out the screen of the software and do it …
Also make it a habbit that when you listen to music on your iPod or whatever, to always think: “Is the new song that is playing faster or slower than the previous” then check your playlist and look if you were right.

You can find a lot more manual beatmatching and mixing advise in our online course found here:
