It’s been illegal to smoke in a club here for the past 12 years, but before that it certainly took its toll on everything I would bring in with me. I’d take equipment to be professionally cleaned once a year (right down to scrubbing the buttons on the CD decks). As for headphones, I’d just put up with it. And I kept separate “bar” clothes from my regular street clothes. The smoke would even get into the CD binders I used – so I would replace those every now and then too.

God I’m glad I don’t have to put up with that anymore… lol

Stinking of smoke when I walk out of the pub/bar/club is something I definitely do not miss. I remember when you would walk in to a pub, only stay for 30 seconds and already stink like smoke when you walk out.

I DJ at a Hookah Cafe and I wipe down all my equipment the next day. Its primarly the fog machine residue that gets on my equipment over the hookah smoke.

Where the hell can you still smoke inside?

I miss the convenience of having a smoke while I play, but don’t miss the smell, I’ve also found I smoke a helluva lot less not exactly being able to run away from the decks for 5-10 minutes (I’ve tried it, it’s hard)

Shit like your laptop and headphones aren’t really going to be out long enough to take any real damage, the decks and mixer cop it so bad from being there every night, every weekend for a long time.

In the U.S. there are indoor hookah cafes that are becoming more popular and they are the few places where you can smoke inside but only hookah, not cigarettes but some city’s don’t allow them at all
