    Simple as that.. I would transfer them over a network cable though if you have one lying around – it’ll take less time overall and mean that you don’t need to take several trips with the USB when it doesn’t all fit on one USB drive.. 🙂

    Just make sure that your software’s database and everything is transferred as well – after you have installed the software. This will keep all your beatgrids, bpm data, cue points etc. and save you setting it all up again.

    If you have an iTunes library you can organize your music with that and it would be convenient because serato integrates with your itunes, and iTunes works wonderfully on mac.

    may be a dumb question lol but ill ask anyway….how exactly do I transfer the software’s database? never had to do this before so its all new to me! no network cable lying around but that would be much easier if I just went and bought one again this is new to me aswell. Thanks again 🙂

    The software’s database will be hiding somewhere in your Documents folder or your music folder – for me (VDJ8) it’s in C:\Users\Username\Documents\VirtualDJ

    I imagine that Trator/Serato/Cross will be similar (Anyone know for certain?). Copy this entire folder and then put it on your new PC instead of the one that is created when you install the software. DO NOT copy it before you install the software 🙂

    That’s a great machine. I made a similar switch recently from a windows laptop to a 2012 MBP. Everything’s really easy to switch from win to mac (at least it is for me as a VDJ8 user) just follow the instructions online and be patient.

    My main bid of advice is that if you share a backup drive of your DJ tracks with all of your computers (I like to edit and curate tracks on my main Windows desktop for instance) exFAT is your only friend. Stick that tidbit in your back pocket for when you get to that point.

    Peace

    A better solution still, imho, is to buy a small NAS (2-drive mirrored minimum) = Network Attached Storage. Tell it you will be using the partition for both windows and mac and it will take care of all of that. It will allow you to quickly access your tracks/files from every device on your network. And because it’s a mirrored drive, you have some guarantee against losing stuff if one of the drives crashes.

    As some users have already suggested, checking your external HDD file system is important;

    Yes he is working at Serato.
    Any longtime Serato user knows him from the Serato forums and sometimes from support cases.
