It would be helpful if you provided the versions / release dates of HW/SW. Here are some questions I have:
    1) You mention that you “contacted Virtual DJ” are you able to replicate the problem with:
    1.1) Serato DJ
    1.1.1) latest version, 1.7.8;
1.1.2) last known stable version, 1.7.3
1.2) Serato DJ Intro (assuming that the3 N4 came bundled with this)
1.3) Virtual DJ: (any versions you have used)
    If anything here works, it might be a SW issue;

    2) If you have the same or similar problems — or even if you don’t — I have found numerous problems within my own MacBook Pro Retina mid-2012 model that Apple support teams on the phone and in the store have tried to unload on my controller — a Denon MC2000. Because Denon was acquired by Numark, it seems like a safe place for Apple to dump all problems, believing that no one from Numark is going to bother supporting Denon equipment, but Numark seems to have taken control of the Denon range and have flipped my problems back to Apple. Despite the contract I have for Apple to provide support, I cannot get them to look at the problems I have even when I am not having the same issues on my PC running Windows 7. I have found going to an Apple Store in person is a much more fulfilling experience than their telephone support, but it is frustrating the way that Apple works. Rather than focusing on what they can do to make your Apple experience better, many of them are so focused on how much they can handoff to other non-Apple-related vendors. So far, Numark has been able to identify 3 problems withe Mid-2012 Retina and Apple has identified nothing and only able to fix one of those problems, albeit, reluctantly. My point here is that I wasted a lot of time by walking away from Apple and if I can help anyone else avoid that pain, I am pleased that my journey had was useful.

Not the response you wanted, I know, but I hope you are able to salvage something from it.
    Good Luck!

    Thanks mate!

I won’t give up! If I find a solution I’ll be sure to let you know…

In my view its nothing to do with the Numark or software. Much more likely Apple’s compatibility. That said, you’d have thought there would have been a bit more convo between the parties?!

    Anyway heres my laptop spec:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    Thanks Again!

    Forgot to say…

No audio output from Mac replicated with VDJ8 and DJSerato DJ – version 1.7.8

All other controls on Numark N4 work fine

Im guessing if I use a MS Laptop instead of Apple MP and download the exact software that will work. Unfortunately, that a very expensive experiment!

    Hi Nof,

what are you connecting to the N4?
    speakers, headphones?

are you trying to get the sound from the mac or from the controller?

let us know, we will try to help you.

    Hello Mate,

If I don’t plug anything into the Mac (the Numark N4 controller), then the Mac plays whatever track I have loaded through the software (VDJ8 or Serato) via the laptop’s internal speakers.

All controls on the Numark N4 replicate and are synced to the software – Pitch/Play/Pause/ – But no audio.

    So:

    No audio through headphones
No LEDs lighting up on N4
No audio through Master Phonos connected to amp/speakers

    Appreciate any help..

    Thank you Mate

BTW -I change audio outputs on the Mac. The Mac can see the N4’s souncard but says’No audio output through this device’ or something like that..

    Hi nof,

try this (excuses in case you tried already and i sound like an old teacher..):

    http://www.numark.com/kb/article/1409

N4 is a stand-alone controller, did you try to use it without laptop, for instance with a mp3 player connected?

any other things you tried already?

    regards,

Hi mate. I’ve read the exact same article…

I’ll try the non-software hook-up. I’m guessing it’s gonna work. Although I need to find a music source with a USB port? Will let you know.

    Really appreciate your posts/responses!

    Nof
