It is well documented (and acknowledged by Serato themselves) that Serato has compatibility issues when run on AMD processors..

Read this article from their website for more info: https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202553000-Problems-with-PCs-using-AMD-processors

Also – I would make sure that you either re-install a clean version of windows on your new laptop, or at the very least uninstall any of the software that came pre-loaded (such as any Beats audio “Enhancements” which will just get in the way when setting up audio interfaces etc..)

Not only Serato, Traktor has severe problems too with some chipsets. You can be lucky or not…

It blows my mind how terrible their coders had to be for this to be a problem, yet they need to be good enough to crunch some serious math.

Their coders are not bad, they just do not care about it. It is much more efficient and since 2/3rd of their market is using Macs and Intel it is what they back.

Sorry, that’s incorrect. To have a problem with one brand of CPU over another requires bad coding, not focused coding. It means that your architecture is poorly implemented, you are using shortcuts in your code that you absolutely should never ever ever do… to an experienced coder, it is extremely easy to tell that their coders are not very good, and that their technical debt is probably getting insurmountable.

Yeah, don’t expect to use Serato with AMD. AMD has been doing lots of CPU at high clocks speeds (Which doesn’t equate to the Intel chips and how they’re built would be a good use of the word, hence why the A10 AMD chips get compared to I3s quite a bit and the FX series only gets compared to i5, with the i7s being in a class all their own.) If you want to blame Serato, go for it. You can blame traktor just as much. I noticed that they still work with 32 bit CPUs, which is ridiculous nowadays as just about every new laptop & even desktop uses 64 bit operating software due the increased optimization of the CPU, even the low end i3 & core 2 Duo chips in used laptops if they can support it.

You might get lucky & it works for you, but I’d say you shouldn’t upgrade as it might mess something up that was making it work with your AMD chip.

    Best of luck!
