    easy as apple pie!

This should remind me to backup to my time capsule more regularly.
To be honest I’ve just kinda blindly utilized this feature and wasn’t sure what it was capable of. So If I sync weekly, worst case scenario I could buy a new MBP, connect that hard drive and reopen up the same computer?

There is ‘Time Machine’ which is the part of Max OS X that handles backups, then there is the ‘Time Capsule’ which is a piece of hardware that works with ‘Time Machine’ to do incremental backups (this means it just backs up what has changed not everything every time) OVER WIFI EVERY HOUR to a hard drive in the ‘Time Capsule’.

If you have the $300 to spend on the Time Capsule then you should do it, that way you don’t even have to think about doing backups, it just happens!!!

I knew that! I just got ahead of myself.

Yes I was referring to Time Machine on an external harddrive, but I will be heavily contemplating the $300 investment in the Time capsule now!

Can anyone explain exactly how I go about getting Time Capsule?
Is the $300.00 a one time set up fee?
I’d gladly pay good $ for a back up program that worked as good as the OP says it does.

The Time Capsule is a piece of hardware that costs roughly $300. It’s basically a wireless router with a built-in hard drive. All the software you need (Time Machine) is already built into Mac OS X. There are plenty of other network hard drives which are Time Machine compatible, too.

    Thanks.
